Thank you for your quick reply Proliant, I have entered the world of credit with nerves after being bad with money as a youngster, I have stuck with paying cash and basic bank accounts etc previously for years, and feel now I am sensible enough to get back in to the swing of things again after keeping my current account in good order. Would you believe I have never seen my credit report? and have the green 0's on it( I take it thats good ?) but a low score ( 650), after talking to experian they say its because I have avoided credit in later life, but that should change if I stick to my plan, and keep my account in good order
I have already started the plan, buy petrol etc using my card put the cash to the side to pay it off, I'm aiming to use £50 a month and repay in full, is that ok ?
I know its sounds silly but I am nervous again as its a new chapter as I am such a budget freak, & I really did get into trouble when I was 18, and thankfully repaid everything, and never touched credit for years after.0 -

Hi all,
I would like some informatino about applying for a credit card.
At the moment I've got a Vanquis, Capital One and Barclay card having paid of my egg and HSBC card and closed them. Unfortunately I've got some bills to play out of the blue that I would like to put on a credit card then pay off but not sure if there are any cards I could apply for - my credit rating is shown as good on equifax and satisfactory on experian ( have one default show on experian and fair amount of missed payments in 2004 but all payments made on time since then). I've had 4 recent searches on experian (O2, vodfone, BT and halifax - who rejected me for a cc) and one on equifax. I dont want to make lots of applications so would like views on the most likely card I should apply for?
Many thanksHSBC loan - [STRIKE]£12500[/STRIKE]£11200 HSBC CC - [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £2300Egg CC - [STRIKE]£2700[/STRIKE]£3100 Capital 1 CC - [STRIKE]£1000[/STRIKE] £800Vanquis CC - [STRIKE]£250[/STRIKE] £0 Citi Loan - £11000Barclays Loan - [STRIKE]£7000[/STRIKE] £5000Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Hi dragon2121
Could you not use any of the cards you already own, or are they all maxed? If they are up to their limits this may be one reason you were rejected for another card by Halifax - they like to see that you are coping with your current commitments.
Also, need to ask the following:
- Is the default on you Experian file shown as satisfied?
- Are you on the electoral roll at the moment?
- When you say searches are recent, how recent?
The missed payments from 2004 shouldn't be having an effect, I have missed payments on my files from that far back and I have no problem getting cards anymore.
Regards

Thanks, cards all maxed out.
- Yes it was satisfied for £169 (argos card) it shows 2006 but it was 2003 when the default was issued....only shown on experian not equifax or call credit.
- yes been on electoral roll at current address for 2 years 10 months
- within last 3 months - but aprt from one they are not exactly for 'credit' in the traditional sense are they (Bt phone line, o2 and vodaphone).
If a lender only searched equifax or call credit then I'd probably get something as only one search, not default etc....any ideas??HSBC loan - [STRIKE]£12500[/STRIKE]£11200 HSBC CC - [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £2300Egg CC - [STRIKE]£2700[/STRIKE]£3100 Capital 1 CC - [STRIKE]£1000[/STRIKE] £800Vanquis CC - [STRIKE]£250[/STRIKE] £0 Citi Loan - £11000Barclays Loan - [STRIKE]£7000[/STRIKE] £5000Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Apply for one of the cards issued by Sygma Bank (Creation Finance)
They only search equifax.
I have 3 cards by them now (JJB All Saints & Flybe Card) My experian report had defaults when I applied that have since been removed, yet equifax had none.
The Flybe card also offers 0% on balance transfers where as the other two don't.
Hope this helps.0 -
