Hi I'm wondering if someone could give me some information on the Vanquis credit card. Myself and my partner both applied for one each as we are both trying to repair our credit files. I was accepted but he was turned down.

I'm not really sure why this is, as when we looked at our credit files, he had a better 'score' than I did.

I have numerous defaults on my credit file going back over the last 4 years, to 8 different creditors and have over £17000 outstanding to them.

My partner only has one default( even though the creditor is denying he owes them anything!) but he does have an Administration Order from 2004.
Also when viewed on the check my file website he is listed as not being on the electoral roll (he is) although when he phoned Experian they told him they do have him listed.

Why do you think he has been turned down, even though he appears to have a better rating than me?

Could it be that your debt effects him getting credit?

How long does it take for a credit card to arrive? I sent my agreement back for my bank of scotland card nearly 2 weeks ago and still no sign!!

Just want so see it for myself as I keep expecting them to change their minds!!! :rotfl:

Any ideas? Perhaps people could post the time it took from sending back their agreement to getting the card, regardless of issuer - would appreciate it!! :p (Checked my files and I sent mine back 14/08 in the envelope supplied (was 2nd class).)

my card and pin number took about a week to 10 days to come thru after sending off the paperwork, thats from vanquis, some take as many as 2-3 weeks from when you get the paperwork and send it, so tbh i have no idea when it might be due for you, but well done for getting it, maybe give them a ring? just to make sure they got it all through ...........

Thanks Emmy, I appreciate the reply. I was going to ring tomorrow as it would be just my luck that after being so good and sorting myself out, the cc would be "lost" in the post and somebody would ring up more debt in my name!!

All beer is cheap, regardless of the amount of cash you parted with to rent it ;)

I did a google search for poor credit and credit builder and along with the Cashplus credit builder it came up.

It says you need to go to a branch for an application form. Going to call and ask the branch to post one to me, the call centre and new applications dont speak much English and dont know about the product, their customer service is abysmal.

I would be keen to read the T&C's to see if they are offering to give a card against a security deposit, if all else fails.
