Well I've received my new Vanquis card today. Credit limit of £250 so I'm very happy :j
I have rung to activate it. So I put in my card number, automated lady said "thank you, please wait a moment", a few seconds of music, then I got a recorded message saying when their business hours are and then "the other person has cleared". Is this correct? I haven't done this in a while:D
Thanks in advance.

when you do an online app for credit like a credit card how in the world can a computer read any notice of correction you may have on your file and return a verdict of accept or decline in the seconds it takes for the decision to be reached??
i may be a bit thick here but surely it would take a human to read it, decide on the outcome of it not a random checking computer:eek:
just one i have always wondered about.
Online applications are not always 100% decided by computer. In cases where you have certain adverse data or undesired data by the issuer on your file, your application will be declined or forwarded to human underwriters. If you have notice of correction or CIFAS entries then it is almost certain that the application will be manually reviewed.0 -

Cheers Emmy. I'm a bit scared to use it actually. I'm quite happy just looking at it.:D. I seem to have a new found respect towards anything to do with credit which I suppose can only be a good thing.........there is a book in my wish list on Amazon though which I have wanted for ages LOL.

Hi I'm wondering if someone could give me some information on the Vanquis credit card. Myself and my partner both applied for one each as we are both trying to repair our credit files. I was accepted but he was turned down.
I'm not really sure why this is, as when we looked at our credit files, he had a better 'score' than I did.
I have numerous defaults on my credit file going back over the last 4 years, to 8 different creditors and have over £17000 outstanding to them.
My partner only has one default( even though the creditor is denying he owes them anything!) but he does have an Administration Order from 2004.
Also when viewed on the check my file website he is listed as not being on the electoral roll (he is) although when he phoned Experian they told him they do have him listed.
Why do you think he has been turned down, even though he appears to have a better rating than me?0 -
Hi I phoned vanquis today to make a payment and got an emergency voicemail and that office was closed, anyone know what the score is...."In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance.0

well done on getting the card, and i wouldnt know why they turned your partner down, was it a case of you applying first? maybe they just think youd end up spending as joint and dont want to run up the risk of both of you messing up 2 cards? or perhaps they think youre a higher risk therefore they might make more money from you lol, im really not sure, sometimes its almost like a lucky dip as to who gets what, maybe he could apply for the mbna card that some of us have managed to get?0 -
I got through to Vanquis ok.0
