Is bank of scotland a different company from the royal bank of scotland, ive not come across them before like. ive got a mint card which is RBS and a Nat west account.

There is Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) which own Nat West, MINT and Ulster Bank

There is also Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) which run all the Halifax branded cards.

I don't think there is a simple "Bank of Scotland" these days

Not quite correct. Bank of Scotland Plc is part of the HBOS group. Halifax is effectively a trade name of Bank of Scotland Plc. The groups various banking licenses, one of which was held by Halifax Plc, were consolidated under Bank of Scotland Plc in the HBOS Group Reorganisation Act 2006.

And two of their newer lending arm's called "Capital Bank" and "Home Shopping Personal Finance" the latter is a joint venture between HBOS and the Barclay Brothers.

Bit off topic i know but ive just spent 35 minutes on a 0844 5p a minute number ringing sky to get the sports
channel back on for the football season starting this week end i was that riled at being put on hold i demanded
a refund of the cost of the call, well i got £5 knocked of me bill lol.

lucky coz i was that mad i was going to tell them to shove there sky packages and not bother. £5 is enough for my calls to there minging rip off over priced number.. need a can of carling to refresh my mouth out hehe:D

Clio - I'll see your Sky Sports phone call, and I'll raise you with a call to my bank's 0870 number to report fraudulent use of my card only to be kept on hold for over 20 minutes to tell customer services, then a further 10 minutes on hold to the fraud team! Grrrrrr
