its never too late to start building ur credit back up, altho im thinking the defaults might go against you, when are they due to drop off?0

Hi Elllamax. Glad you found the forum when you needed it. I think we all feel the same way for sure so you are in good company.
I would say it is never too early to start rebuilding your credit history. I did the same credit check on moneysupermarket and got the same results for choice of cards as you did. I would definitely advice you to try out for one of them for sure but also do check out your credit file through experian or the like for a fuller picture of where you are at right now.
p.s if we all waited until we could afford kids, half of us would never get there. I too have an 'accident' - her name is Woody and 7yrs down the line I wouldn't swap her for anything. The money situation will get better and down the line we will see that we have double the riches of others all thanks to our childrenDEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -
Thank you very much Emmy and Woodyrocks. Mainly, I was worried about being turned down and thereby making a bad situation even worse!
I wouldnt swop any of mine for anything!! They have helped me get some perspective on life. I had all the 'good things' but somehow, something was missing! I now feel that the only thing missing from my life is a million or so quid!!Money wont keep you warm in your old age or give you memories that make you smile..... BUT It SURE CAN HELP!!!!!!
So back to business, I shall check out if I can get hold of my credit file in a format that you dont need a degree in gobbledegook to understand...... and take it from there I think.
Thanks again for replying to my post. I appreciate it.0 -

I was kinda hoping someone could tell me that? Although as they are so recent, I am thinking not for quite some time yet. You can count yourself as clear 6 years after a ccj and bankruptcy cant you... so are defaults the same or less?0 -

Well, I used checkmyfile to check my history and a default from 2005 is showing up there. It also shows the history of my accounts for 6 years.
As an aside to more knowledgable people: do credit card and loan providers actually check back for the full 6 years?0 -
An excellent question blob (you dont mind if I abbreviate do you?!) Apologies if you do.0

Yes , they can see any defaults/CCj on file . Some credit providers have different policies on how old these are and whether they would accept you . It would go in your favour once it shows as settled/paid.0 -
Wow I've missed a lot! Just ready through all the posts that I've missed, crazy man!
Real shame Mr P has gone. Personally think he should have just entirely ignored any non-sub-prime posts.
Anyway, I've just called to check my Barclay's credit card is in the post, which it is, although still no idea what the credit limit on it is! Was sent 31/07, so should be here by the end of the week, or so they tell me. (Was going to make a joke about not understanding the chap in the asian call centre, but I like my head where it is!!!) Keeping my fingers crossed it's a decent limit
