  • Rather have the money to buy something I want/need! But I think I will probably ebay it, after all, I want a laptop and planning to get rid of this 4yr old comp!

So.... I have mailed customer service from their website with:

I recently bought an item from a Tesco's store, and was overcharged. I took it back, and under your policy, that if your overcharged, you are refunded and you get to keep the item. This I did, but the item is no longer needed. I believe I would still have the same rights to take the item back to a Tesco store, and obtain a refund for the price I originally paid. Am I correct in thinking this, as one right should not infringe another.

    I await your reply

    Many Thanks

Don't fancy your chances here...I reckon the odds are definitely against getting any money out of them. We have had cash refunds a few times on overcharged items - but only when the CS staff forgot to write anything on the receipt. In theory it shouldnt make a difference to Tesco as the goods can obviously be resold and they would recoup the cash that way. In THEORY whether they give you a pc worth £400 or give you £400 cash it's all £400 to them, however in practice they would be extremely annoyed at your cheek!!
Best of luck to you...whatever happens you got a great freebie there! :T
  • Cheers! Probs gonna put it on ebay and take a bit less than asking price....
  • Hi Megalomaniac

I was in the aberdeen tescos yesterday and today and i saw 2 different PC's one priced at £498 on the shelf and the box and another priced at 319 again priced on the shelf and the box... which one is it?

    Cheers

    Rip_Off
  • Nah they're not on the shelf rip_off, i saw those at first. Then a little hunting, and there were 3 piles of computers further along the main corridor, near the kids toys stuff I think. There were 7 left after I took them. Get down there right now though, now I have a refund they may have taken them off the shop floor. GO GO GO GO GO!!

oh and it's £349 on the box, but 448 on the big yellow card attached to them...
  • You have legally paid the price you paid at point of the contract, POS. That's whatever is on your receipt. The effect of the 'sweetner' does not null and void the original contract. Sure they would be jumping around all over the CS service desk, and you'll have to have B*lls of steel and be prepared for some real serious aggro, but the refund has nothing to do with the price paid at the POS. (edit : at least it shouldn't really unless they have some cleverly worded additional documents)

Edit : I did speak to HQ (who did not really know when asked directly), said was at the managers discretion.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D
  • When did you speak to HQ? I think I will ring them up and ask too, never know. If they say yes your entitled to a refund, I'll make sure they send it in writing to my address from TESCO HQ and pop down there with computer and letter in hand (well trolley)

Spoke 2 soon, now back on old PC, it cut out 3 times and wont start back up!

Anyone any ideas why it's cutting out?
I can imagine me taking it back and asking for a refund and the manager smiling, open up your hand and ZILCH falls out his palm!
