The CCTV footage and a static picture of a 'persistent offender' are totally and utterly different. It is expected that stores have CCTV to protect against theft, this is common practice on the high street, etc. It is not expected however that a store will place a static picture of someone who has not breached the law on there boards, and treat them as if they were the said persons that the CCTV is there for in the first place. This is entirely without legal justification.
Edit : With Halloween just round the corner, I reckon that you'd get away with some pretty good disguises. Go to CS 'I have been overcharged' ...... CS immediate without delay ... 'Here's your cash ...... Mr Krugger ..... Help' :rotfl:Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

I was actually saying "good" to security stopping and offering to check a persons shopping for overcharges if they are piling "hundreds" of the same item in the trolley. If its 2 or 3 of a few misprices then fair enough, but when people go in with a list of all the misprices (which I do) and buy 10 of every item on the list (which I don't) then they are taking the p*ss. If security then step in and politely say "i'm sorry sir / madam, I think some of the items in your trolley may be mispriced, please allow me to check them for you, we wouldn't want you getting overcharged now would we!" then where is the problem?!?!
I do not however agree to the harrasment and threats that you describe are well out of order whether you have 1 or 1,000 misprices in your trolley!!!0 -
Been thinking of some gags if I am followed :
1. Wander round the store for hours and in the end buy 1 pint of milk. Result : security guard wastes his time and thefts go up 10 fold.
2. Go directly to the Condom aisle once you are aware of the security guard following you, heap a stack of condoms in the trolley trying to look as suspicious as possible, head for the till, go to a young person male/female. If stopped then security guard will have the embarassment of checking if your condoms have been 'overcharged', if not challenged at the last minute decide not to buy 50 packs of condoms. Result : Highly embarassed security guard.
3. If female security person, head for male underwear section buying stacks of extra large white briefs. Bound to embarass her, especially with comments like not sure if you suit me, what do you think ?, etc.
4. If male security person, head for female underwear purchasing a stack of skimpy pants. Bound to embarass him, especially with comments like not sure if you suit me, what do you think ?, etc.
Must be plenty of others to think of :rotfl:Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

By selling items you paid £0 to someone on ebay, you get a profit, not tesco, not the consumer for getting a cheaper CD, but you and you alone (You plural !!!!!!, not you singular!)
The consumer could have got the CD for free themselves if they'd known how you had got it for free, and instead of another consumer becoming wise to the Tesco policy, and starting to check their own reciepts, you have basically taken money off someone because you know something they don't.
You will often find Martin urging people to not go silly with good offers from big companies as they are not there to help your bank balance go up by profitting on ebay, but to benefit all consumers equally.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

They won't and don't differentiate between a person who has had 10 refunds of 30 items, and a person who has had 10 refunds on 5 items. They are both persistent offenders as far a Tescos are concerned, and will be subjected to the same treatment. They have been found out and are attempting to cover the situation up without having the embarassment of pulling the policy.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

I don't SELL anything on ebay myself, but I have no objections to a person doing so, its entirely up to them.
You have paid the POS amount which is a fact under contract law. The sweetner is a goodwill gesture to avoid prosecution, call it an incentive to keep quiet about the matter. This has no effect on your ownership rights at POS.
I do buy some bits and bobs on ebay occasionally but no-one forces me to make a bid. I really can't see what your arguement actually is ? Any person can go into Tescos and get a misprice, probably some of those that sell them on EBAY will have nothing to do with this site. As you know its hit and miss whether you can go in a get a specific item, so is the consumer going to wait for the Tescos misprice or buy it at half the RRP on EBAY.
Say for example, LIVE AID which has been mispriced according to some but I have never seen it mispriced in any of the stores I have been to. If I want the live aid for a forthcoming birthday present I would very much like to bid on the item, if I am going to get it on EBAY at say £15 when its £33 in Tescos et al. I am winning got it cheapish (given without going round every store in the hope of finding it is expensive and time consuming and not guaranteed), person selling winning, tescos losing .... everyone happy.
As you know often the CS staff take offending SEL's, posters down, etc, therefore there is no guarantee that the item will be mispriced on the next visit to the store. So I can not be assumed that a person would definietly be able to get the item for free. With enough effort it is probable but can most be bothered ?
This is not really an offer, as in bogof, 3 for 2, reduced price item. It's an attempt to avoid prosecution for breaking the law, by offering sweetners. The effect of someone stinging Tescos does / should help other consumers it should make prices right, thus the average punter does not get charged 5% to 10% more than he should on every visit.
I have told loads of people of the Tescos policy while waiting in CS getting messed about, unfortunately most have little or no interest in it, 'I don't have time to check receipt' etc. You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
Edit : I also can not beleive that you are saying don't go overboard on an offer given the Beef in Gravy, clearout, which resulted in most consumers not being able to benefit. Personally I don't mind but it was hardly in the best interests of consumers in general. And was certainly going was not in the spirit of the comments you have just made regarding being silly with offers
'Well, was fun while it lasted. I guess our dogs will be happy to go back to their dry food after all that manky gravy.'Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

Just a thought - I've never been followed by a security guard, but perhaps this is because my children all seem to go in different directions at once and poke everything on shelves, would simply be too exhausting to chase all of us - anyone can borrow them if they like, then I could get my shopping done! Also my older children like to watch the security bods as they peep round corners and through gaps on shelves - they provide endless amusement for the kids - new Tesco entertainment policy?GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

!!!!!!, I wasn't pointing the finger at you at all. Sorry if you thought I was. I typed the plural/singular comment to differentiate betweeen you as in !!!!!! and you as in general readers of this site.
I am not saying, nor have ever said, don't go overboard on an offer for personal use. I am saying that selling the spoils of an offer on ebay is against the ethics of this site we all love. Other consumers, who don't use this site for whatever reason they have, are paying people on ebay who benefit from the knowledge we all have and freely access. And to make a personal profit from thier ignorance just isn't fair play IMO.
BTW, I value my carpets far too much to give BiG to my dog. I gave most of my frozen food to the homeless as they wouldn't regurgitate it all in the same way the mutt would. Most consumers who wanted to, did benefit from the offer, the ones I told did anyway. It was the story in the press days before the end of the offer that meant Tesco imposed bulk buy limits in store. Everyone I knew round here I told about it benefitted to their choice of spend on food. No shortages in our stores until the story hit the national press.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
