I agree Tesco need to sort themselves out.

However, i do have an issue with people throwing items in the dustbin...why bother getting them to create rubbish just to prove a point(which has Tesco has missed for the past 10+ years this policy has been running)? Won't one item do?

Charity, okay, same as giving them away to friends.

Selling on ebay. No. Out of order. You're making a profit from OTHER CONSUMERS not tesco. :naughty: Completely against the ethics of the site and summed up quite well by one of the posters further back in this thread who stated they wanted to find a CD for free in their local tesco, not pay for one on ebay.

The point I am making is that I am not bothered what anyone does with the items, they are their own personal possessions from the point of sale (regardless of refund policy), if they wish to place a large BPBV topside beef joint down their pants and go to the local nightclub on the razzle they are quite welcome to, (although it may infringe the dress code, wonder if that's ever been tried ........... sorry sir no admittance with trainers, sorry sir no admittance with a Tescos BPBV topside joint down your pants :rotfl: ).

I personally hate wastage, and would take any stuff down to oxfam, as I do with other items I no longer want. Foodstuffs I either freeze, or if have no space, give to family, etc.

How are you making a profit from other consumers ? It is Tescos who are going to take the Profit & Loss hit for the item not consumers. Sure if they need to raise prices then that will effect the consumer, but at its logical conclusion, the consumer can go to ASDA or whoever, if incorrect pricing forces up Tescos costs and thus the prices in store. That argument is thus financially flawed. Tescos simply would not raise prices to recoup overcharges as it would lose custom, which is why it has so many special offers in the first place, attempting to woo new consumers from ASDA et al, on the basis of these non-existant mega offers.

As for Ebay, if you sell on ebay, (which I don't anyway), the price that you sell for will be considerably less than the price in Tescos or other high street shops, thus someone else is gaining some benefit aswell. If Tescos pricing is so bad that people can even suggest I'll go into Tescos and pick it up for free then I have no sympathy for Tescos at all, its their own damn fault.

Edit : One item does not do it, emmethal cheese wrong for 3 weeks now, after several 1 or 2 free, and they are aware of it. Clearing shelf might have bigger impact and thus might get it right.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D
  • Their sharp practices have been found out and they don't like it. I see no problem in purchasing as many as you see fit (although they may say the bulk buy rule of 6 applies). MAYBE IF THEY GET STUNG HARD ENOUGH THEY'LL GET IT RIGHT ???

I really can't agree that it's sharp practice. It can't be deliberate, can it? Why would it be deliberate? All they'd have to do normally is change the prices universally. And that's the point, they don't.

It's sloppy practice brought on by afwul communication and bad management. If people did their jobs right, it wouldn't happen, regardless of whether it's shelf stackers or the "pricing communication department" at HQ.
  • I was speaking to someone who works in a local Tescos and she said that persistent R&R's photos are up on a wall, which would explain why my local Security guy at Tescos wanders around after me ! Also names are taken and circulated to other Tescos as "problem" customers. She also made the point that if Mr Jones goes and gets £60 worth of beef free at the moment, he would get the refund and also keep the points. They are also changing it so the points will be removed from your clubcard automatically.

I have had several misprices on emmenthal cheeses, in the last 3 weeks, it's normal part of my purchases, it has been on offer at 8.65 kg for 3 weeks or so, I have had several misprices on the item (and am thus a persistent offender on this basis), and they know about this item being incorrect, was in yesterday, still mispriced at £8.99kg rather than £8.65kg, did not have time for CS refund discussion yet again on an item they have been aware of for 3 weeks, so did not buy any. It is sharp practice in my book if they are aware of an error and do nothing about it for 3 weeks, clearly they have overcharged substantial numbers of customers on this item, as the pack writing is small, and for someone who may need glasses impossible to read, these people will assume the big sign in 3 inch writing and the SEL are correct when they buy the item. It is also highly illegal as they have not taken reasonable steps to ensure that misleading prices do not occur, when they have had overcharge refunds, and have been told of the issue.

Edit : Why would they do it deliberately ?? PROFIT .... OVERCHARGING IS GOOD FOR PROFITS (it allows more margin per unit and more units to be sold to unsuspecting customers), depending on how they account for overcharges exceptionally good for REVENUE (a figure used by many analysts in valuing a company's future share price .... do not forget Tescos are only losing the Cost Price of the Unit not the Sale Price ... and they are probably writing these overcharges off to a cost item rather than reducing sales figure).

Edit : Also the lowest displayed price is used in the supermarket comparisons vs ASDA et al. Neat trick to beat competition SEL's lowest but product actually highest.

This is highly illegal on all counts.

It infringes Data Protection Act. European Privacy Acts, and the contractual POS agreement for clubcard points (statutory rights should not be breached by the R&R policy). Also it is a deliberate attempt to break the CPA and get away with it, by harassing customers (illegal), or intimidating customers with force or intended force (illegal).

Where are Tescos lawyers at are they all on HOLIDAY ????

Edit : Do hope that the lighting was good, I do hate a bad picture :rotfl:

  • It is unfair but after the treatment I have had I won't be doing it anymore, I don't have the assertiveness to deal with a confrontation. Maybe that is what they are banking on, people not wanting the hassle. I complained to HO but unless the local store manager's attitudes change nothing will be different.

I may be wrong on this but I believe that if you look near the entrance of any store it will mention CCTV being used in the store etc. This means that when you enter you agree you will be filmed on CCTV, this does not go against Data Protection or Human Rights, as long as you inform persons that you are doing open filming.

Knowing this board no doubt I will be told something different.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.

I think there is a major difference between being filmed on CCTV and having a static photograph on permanent display to staff labelling you in the same light as a common criminal!
Maybe we should start shopping in shades!

I agree with !!!!!! I am sure that static photos on a wall especially if they have attached a customers name to it is against Data protection and also human rights. Just think, you could be on that wall for just being diligent and checking your receipt [been overcharged twice this week without trying]. Unlike !!!!!! I always take a bad photo so mine would be in the Hammer Horror section, wonder if I would look like a coo, nanna a hoodie or just plain daft?
