Does anyone know if the full refund and keep product policy still applies when using a self scanning till? Was overcharged on two CD's and a book today and CS started to give a refund, then checked with her colleague and decided we were only entitled to the difference back. Pointed out the policy notice behind them and they told us that because we used a self scanning till it was down to our own error. OH was too embarrassed to argue, so left with just the difference refunded. Not at all happy. Is it worth a call to HO, or will they tell me the same story? If anyone thinks it is worth a phone call, can someone let me know the freephone number. Thanks.
Sounds like a pathetic excuse to me. How is it your own error? You can't help what the items scan at...

I would definitely phone them - I'm sure somebody will be along very soon to tell you the number. Good luck! :)

  • Firstly I would just like to say thankyou to everyone who posts on this thread, you have all inspired me.
Today I took my first visit to my local tesco (not the usual shop I do, it is about 40 minutes away from me) but anyway, I had my pen and paper noting down my prices as I shopped but unfortunately I didn't notice any misprices (although I did pick up my temporary clubcard for the day :D ) Not sure if I was looking in the right places anyway, and I didn't see a self scanner anywhere.
The store was alot smaller than I thought (it's the Stalham store in Norfolk) so I think my next trip will be to a bigger store in Norwich sometime soon. :D

Try the Dereham store. Don't bother with the Extra in Yarmouth. They seem to be totally on the ball at the moment. I think it's due to them recently becoming an Extra!
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

if you add freepost SCO SO43 to the address it means you don`t need a stamp (taken from clubcard address, which is the same)

    hope this helps someone

LOL, you might like to try....

And the correct Tesco Customer Service address is:

Theres a billion postcodes for Dundee CS anyway, one other I can think of is DD1 9HF - but the one above is the one we give out anyway instore.
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.

That's absolute rubbish! Geez they come out with some excuses!! We have had refunds at least 3 times I can think of (including almost £70 today) when using the self scan check out. They really do try and wriggle out any way they can - terrible! Stick to your guns and let us know how it goes when you ring HO.

Ive been a Tesco shopper for ages & never thouhgt of this.If I notice a mistake,do I have to go through the check out with the item(s) before going to CS? Because from now on I am going to look very carefully!

    Hi Jimmyt,
Yes, you definitely have to go through the checkout first and therefore be overcharged, otherwise they will just thank you for alerting them to the misprice and you wont get it free.
I would look very carefully - we do now!

Thanks, Dereham, here I come :D
  • Visited local store this morning - picked up butter based chicken SEL £2.99....charged £3.99 at till. CS woman marched me over to chickens and then proceeded to offer me a stickered £2.99 one! She said I had picked up a wrong shicken so I should take the lower priced one! Said no thanks I think I am entitled to a refund... she argued I had not been overcharged but had picked up the wrong chicken. Got refund in end but she was not happy.....then I tried to get a refund on a legitimately purchased CD as I had got husband wrong one, and she said I was not entitled???? She disappeared for several minutes and then said I could only exchange for another CD, and nothing else from any dept??? Any one else heard of this?
