Hi, I'm new to this site, and this is my first post.

I would like to ask if anyone else has noticed that Tesco's are getting firmer with their r+r policy. I did my weekly shop last night, and thought that I would get 2 CDs(Charlotte Church, scans £9.97, sel £8.97, and Leonard Skynnrd, scans £10.97, sticker £9.97), their finest bacon (pack £2.48, sel £2.06), and double gloucester cheese (pack £1.24, sel 1.19, part of the 3 for £3 offer) for free under the r+r policy. After a half hour wait at CS, the assistant finally came back, and said that I could have the CDs, as their was a genuine mistake, but not the bacon or the cheese. The sel for the bacon says 250g, not the weight of the pack (300g), but it is obviously a mistake on the sel, as I was refunded for this same bacon last week. They don't sell that particular bacon in a 250g pack, and from reading this forum I know other people have had similar queries. As for the cheese, I got some story about it being different cheese to the sel, etc.. Again I have had refunds on this before. The assistant, who was v pleasant, said she had taken a long time because she had had to find a manager to approve the refunds, the first time this has happened to me - I have had numerous refunds before without a manager approving them. I decided not to argue too much as I had frozen food defrosting in my trolley. Is this first signs of Tesco getting firmer or did I just get a Manager who was trying it on? Or are they just getting fed up of me? I'd appreciate your views.

I have got refunds from two different stores. One of them did say that all refunds now had to be approved by the store manager
Looking to raise some money ;)

Well that's a load of rubbish! the manager is only supposed to be required to authorise over a certain amount (unsure think it's £10(, but I had £90 DVD refunded a couple of weeks ago without a manager, so I think it's just the quirks of each store.

Am going to India in 2 months time, and I hear CDs are about £1, so i reckon that's less hassle than arguing with tescos CS!

I live near to a Tesco Extra store, is it likely to have the self scanning facility?

I have not used this facility before, is it possible to walk into the store and use it immediately or is there a registration proceedure involving waiting a period of time?

    Thanks in advance.

If you mean self scanning checkout tills, then we haven't complied a list yet, so you;d have to post the store and see if people could tell you if there is self-scan checkout. there is no registration procedure - you jus use 'em.

If you mean price-check scanners in the store, then there is a list (see my sig)

Is it just in my area or have tesco's stopped putting up chart posters? there are no longer any around me just empty cases, been like it 2 weeks now.

Possible due to MSE's getting a bargain!

There are today brand new chart posters in Launceston (Cornwall) they have loads more prices on, but the 'wrongly' priced CDs have ALL been corrected. Guess there is someone at Tesco earning brownie points by reading this thread and passing info back!
  • Anyone know if the Sunbury Extra store has a scanner to check prices?

Hello Joel - hope today is better - any news on job front yet.

Nope - just as bad probably! Today it was 'all bums on seats' and staff breaks/lunches got really behind, I got left on my own, and had 40+ staff mobbing me for lunches/breaks and customers moaning at them!

Oh well, can't seem to please everyone - at least I didn't get any complaints from customers today, except the odd one with being ID'd for alcohol - we've gone really strict on it now, and I've never seen so many 18 - 24 year olds being ID'd lol.

As for the job - I was told I could be hearing the results today, but I haven't heard anything, so its either bad news, or they haven't made their mind up yet. I went back for a second interview yesterday, and I suspect I'll either be receiving a (dreaded) letter in the next few days, or perhaps, possibly, maybe, a late phone call brining good news. Fingers crossed I suppose, the suspense is killing me!

And I was the hot topic of a senior management meeting today, as they seem to be preparing in case I leave... damnit... and theres me trying to leave them in the lurch and teach them a lesson
I've just posted the maori haka on this thread for use under extreme CS duress.
Think I'd better dedicate it to you, too.
    Kind regards.

    LOL, I read it - thanks! :D
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.

I believe there are unrelated (to the prices displayed) problems with them at the moment, as I inquired with Infotainment staff recently ;)

(and its taken me about 10 minutes to type that out, damn alcoholic influences lol)
