narabanekeater thanks mate,
So it is £1000 an overcharge Hmmm could be a very intresting court case,I can see it now on the front page poor parent and sad looking child outside of Tesco with the banner
'Tesco ordered to pay fines of £5000,
Rampant overcharging, special report inside'0 -

I'm afraid this is wrong, you CAN take mobiles and electrical items back to a non-mobile/electrical goods selling store however they don't like doing it as it normally gets stuffed in the back of cupboards and cages.
Especially in the case of a overpriced item you can say that you don't have the time to go back to the "main" store and that the non-mobile/electrical goods selling store is more convenient for you0 -

We may jest about it, but I don't think anyone actually takes it seriously.
No, there isn't. I'd take their name from their name badge, or alternatively their operator number (more effective for pin pointing who exactly)...
(second from last set of numbers on the VERY bottom of the receipt.. should look something like:)13/11/05 12:00 1234 100 5678 9012 | | | | | | | | Store | | Customer Number Till | Operator
In that instance its 5678
Edit: And no point asking people for their name, we're all told we don't have to for privacy... and some even wear 'different' names on their namebadges.
...and write to the store Customer Service Manager. I wouldn't bother complaining about staff verbally to the store, as it just goes over there head. And likewise Head Office, they haven't a clue about who is who instore, and don't come into contact with the person concerned.
Be warned anybody who also like to get abusive the other side of the desk - we've been told its OK to walk away now and get a manager to deal with you
(Not that I'm saying anyone here is nasty; but there are people out there who come looking for trouble at CSD)0 -
sorry, i meant to add
Lots of people are having problems getting the R and r. Certainly the last couple I have, it has been quite difficult, never straightforward, sometimes unpleasant ! I think they are as a company trying to get out of it, even though we know thanks to ben and !!!!!! that they ARE obliged to do it, thanks to advertising it.
however, some of the above, exchanges not relating to RandR is not Tesco policy, but is at the discretion of the CS who happens to be manning the desk. i.e some stick rigidly to policy, some use commonsense and understanding
But aren't we only giving them ammunition to try and wriggle out of things ?0 -
I agree that a line has got to drawn as i would do it a couple of times(as tesco overcharged me before & i let it go as queues were so long etc & i had their credit card (not a good credit card to have after 0% runs out but i hadnt learnt about switching cards then so they got a hell of a lot out of me)& car insurance which gradually crept much higher than other firms that i had with them so i would feel justified in getting a couple of small things to equal what i feel they have lost me but i think when you feel you are even you should stop as in my gut i would then feel i am stealing really especially some of the large items if you buy purposefully to get lots money.
Obviously if you notice youve been overcharged they should stick by their policy as "dont have the policy if you cant stick by it!".
Maybe though if we didnt hear things on the news about how little these huge store pay the farmers like we heard recently people would treat tescos with a little more respect.... who knows???0 -
Never had a problem with their policy here - always refund first time, every time. :rotfl:0

Just been to tesco home @ denton - noticed that the previous "glossy" posters with the charts on and some prices are no longer there - in their place are what look like computer print outs on white paper of the charts - basically just a list from 1- whatever of every position in the charts with no mention of prices! -looks like this is so that they don't have any more problems with r&r on the cd's!!!
Anyone seen this in their local stores or have you still got the old posters?

Visited my local store today (Mereway, Northampton). Posters for the cds have been taken down!:beer:0
