Joel wrote:True, just a shame theres normally an angry customer at the end of it. And they usually rant that they have been 'waiting 20 mins'.
On that note, what IS IT with people always choosing the nice, round, 20 mins to complain that they have been waiting for that long, when you KNOW they have been there less than a minute.
I had an old guy shouting at me the other morning - I had 5 staff stood round me whilst I told them about an important change on the tills, and the fact there was a 2 minute silence at 11am which they could choose to observe and stop scanning/working.
He come past, and shouted across "CAN YOU TELL WHOEVER is running this place that they need to open some more bloody tills, its gonna take me 20 minutes to get through as it bloody is, its REDICULOUS! You lot stood around with no..."
I answered "Yes, SIR, I will open some more checkouts in a moment, when I have finished informing my staff that there will be a 2 minute silence today for which they are entitled to respect, and told them about some changes important to them to ensure you can be served efficiently today, OKAY?!"
I just don't understand why people think I would purposely hold back staff and watch everyone queue, without good reasoning!
Ah, arguing with customers. It keeps the job full of variety
The is a way of asking, what he said isn't how to ask he was demanding and you will never get anywhere when you do that. I know when i am doing my shopping the is normally always a que and loads of closed tills.
I know when i have been kept waiting for a manager at the csd i have normally been kept waiting for 20-30 min and when you have a bad back the time doesn't go quick whilst waiting
You should put forward an idea of chairs as csd or a waiting area with seats for all those "i will have to get a manager" waits which end up 20 - 30 min.
If a manager is called to the till it has never taken long in my experienceThe best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. It costs nothing and means so much.0 -
john0612 wrote:I was in TESCO EXTRA/IRVINE 2nite, and noticed that on the bottom of the battery section they were selling Energizer compact chargers (4xAA @1300mAh + charger) on a discontinued ticket for £6.97 now i bought one of these a couple of months ago and decided to get another one. Now there were 3 left one had a bashed box so i lifted another one and i noticed that it was 1700mAh instead of of the 1300, blatently knowing it was in the wrong place i decided to go for it them comlpain, scanned at £15.97 so off to CC, girl left and came back in 10mins saying that it's the wrong type on the shelf and that it's only the 1300 . Pleading my ignorance i told her i didn't know the difference, she told me she didn't know either, so asked if i could get the product at cheaper price, was told NO because it says on label that it's the 1300 that's discontinued (not my problem surley) in the end told her i didn't want the 15.97 so gave me the diference back and i took the 6.97 instead.
I don't normally haggle/complain (get to flusttered and don't know what to say) but felt quite proud of myself for doing it, so felt really deflated on the way home after a non result.
What should i have done differentely? and was i in the right to the higher priced item?
You weren't really entitled to anything. The policy, and the law for that matter, only stands if Tesco have advertised THAT PARTICULAR product for that price. Tesco lables clearly state the product description with the price. You even admit yourself that you knew it wasn't the one you had that was reduced.0 -

Couldn't that be said for the 250g / 300g bacon? The best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. It costs nothing and means so much.0 -

That's incorrect I'm afraid, if the point of sale is displayed with the product the consumer is not expected to be able to distinguish between slight weight differencials on packs , the advertising is clearly misleading.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Where is the rules etc..... i looked the website but found nothing of interest.
What should i have knowledge of and where can i find it,
Much thankness.0 -

You are corrected then! (LOL).
There is (or were) both 250g and 300g packs of Bacon.
This is what has caused most of the confusion.
As Ben basically stated above, the product is misleadingly labelled if it is the same item but a different weight! Some items are moved around by shoppers of course so this won't count. The Bacon however doesn't usually have the 250g and 300g weighted products on the shelf at the same time. That's when you have a mispriced (or very misleading) item.Keep SmilingSite member number 24

Nothing like a bit of correction on a quiet Sunday evening.
Best shut up now or I'll be made to go and sit in the Arms :rotfl:0 -
Oooohh. I’m going to be controversial. I’m a bit perturbed by what I have read over the last few pages.
First of all, I have to say, since I disovered MSE I have enjoyed the benefits, complety, and the wonderful community atmoshperhe, not nessasarily participating but just obervering. there are many wonderful, hepful, informative members.
For example , after my questions about “Tescos answer thred” Shr2k, or Simon, a Tesco colleague like Joel, was nice enough to put his time into PMing me about how I could potentially save £s at tescos ! And ben500 and !!!!!! Dastardly have been amazing in their information.
Living nesxt door to a big Tesco my main thread of enjoyment has been the Tesco ones.
As I understand it - Tescos don’t have to offer the refund and keep the product in any case of an overcharge, but they do, as a cortesy or customer service.
As I understand it - Tesco are not legally obliged to accept goods back and give a refund or exhange if they are not faulty. They do so as a customer service or courtesy.
As I understand it - Tescos don’t have to do a refund/exchange you cannot provide proof of purchase. They do so as a customer service or courtesy.
As I understand it - Tescos don’t have to allow you to exchange goods you don’t want without a receipt for complety different goods you do want. They do so as a courtesy.
But what is being discussed and suggested on this thread ?
That people purposefully get “free” goods being purposefully overcharged, then refunded through the RandR; Then investigating how these items sell on ebay; if they are not good prospects for ebay take them back without a receipt and exchange them for things that do sell better on ebay.
sureley this stuff is damaging the credibility of MSE ?
Tescos might read this thread. What evidence must they go away with to end four policies which are to our advantage ? What credibity do we have to get our nice big juicy refunds, if they can say, oh they are all doing it for ebay. ?
I’m all with ben500’s take on Tescos. I think there is evidence of a corporate culture of overcharging
But there is so much ammunition here for Tescos to drop any of their customer friendly policies ?0
