critical1 - shocking stuff........but sadly not the first time this sort of thing has been experienced and shared. Make sure you get whatever outcome you desire. Obviously we are only hearing one side of this..... but it does seem clear you were overcharged....had the correct procedure been followed there would have been no need for such drastic escalation (on their part).
You haven't done anything wrong......unless of course they count standing your ground and not giving in to them. Speak to HO on Monday..... but you may want to put it in writing too.
Have a look at http://www.howtocomplain.com/0 -
Thanks for the advice thepearce, I was surprised by this whole incident and even rang the local police station to find out if they had been called!!! I intend to phone HO on monday and email this letter to them, I shall also put it up on my website the, little video is intresting... if it comes to that.
This manager clearly did not like the fact that I knew the policy and he clearly stated that it did not matter as he can disregard it and he was the duty store manager and as such he makes the rules and yes I can stand my ground if need be but usualy I dont even have to as I'm 5'11 and like 18st so I'm a bit large gentle and meek.. the gentle giant who stands out and does not want to embarras myself0 -
This was a terrible way to treat you, even if you had been someone doing something wrong, which clearly you were not, then you should never have been treated in such a discurteous way. I hope that Head Office get this all sorted out very quickly and deals with the store, would be interesting to know what happens to the manager, any MSEr's work there?
Good luck and well done for not being intimidated.
PS Really cross on your behalf that he tried to use your child to make you go away too.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Thanks mummysaver, t was strange having to deal with them it was as if they had been instructed to get rid of me? If they want to play hardball I can play... It should never have happened passing customer and those behind me were looking at the Tesco policy who had never noticed it before they were very surprised, some even added comments maybe Tesco want every one to know about the policy?0

Good Luck to critical 1.
But i have justed used the Tesco refund policy to the fullest - picked up Merenaires on PS2 - sticked £13.99 - charged £19.97 - Got £19.97 and kept the celephaned wrapped game - CS assistant didn't mark my reciept (this was yesterday).
Went back into store today - game and reciept in hand - and advsd the cs assistant it was purchesd in error - She glady gave me £19.97 refund as product was celephaned wrapped. Hence £19.97 pure profit.
Has anyone else done this? Not sure if i could repeat it, just wanted to see it would actually work.0 -
how absoloutly disgusting.you should name & shame the tesco involved if you can.that is terrible customer relations. i worked in a gigh street shop for years our unspoken rule from head office was if someone creates a real stink in front of everyone else just give them a rwefund regardless to get rid of them as it shows you in a bad light to other customers.this surely must have been seen by others. I think duty manager should be severely repremanded!
Also you could say that you are going to send a copy of letter to local newspaper.0 -
Critical- seems you got Sunday CS service. These sorts of incidents always seem to happen on a Sunday.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

critical, no matter what you do, stand your ground on this one, doll.
If you look back through this thread, HO always fall on the side of the customer when the policy has clearly not been followed up, and don't forget to ask them to give that ar*ehole manager a good kicking at the same time. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
welche2 wrote::mad: Has anyone got tescos head office phone number. been overcharged at tesco express in woodville derbyshie. bought 4 packs of rump steak. £11.98 a kilo on pack shelf price £10.98. payed for them with other goods. asked for a refund. the bloke who served me said "what can i do" in a sarcastic way. told him about the refund policy and he said" never heard of it". looked around the shop the policy was not shown in the store. he went to his superviser 5min later she came back with him. rember the office is behind the till. must have looked in the manuals for guidence. went to the shelf with my steak. came back and started the refund policy.ie. puting each pack through the till one at atime and putting the money next to her without giving it to me. got to the third pack and said" ive changed my mind, NO REFUND." put the money back into the till and gave the rest of the steak back. did not offer the differance or refund in exchage for the goods. asked why she changed her mind told me"see the manager tomorrow". ive been overcharged, refused the differance or refund. this must be illegal. help?
I used to work at that store! I can guess who the sarcastic one serving you was. When I left we had the R+R policy displayed at the side of the tills, but the so called 'managers' only used it when they could be bothered. I'd never wanted to leave a job so much as when I was there!0 -
After yesterday's success took Bryn Trifle-Bryn CD back to different Tescos and got a cash refund of £10.97 no problemo and also exchanged Charlotte Church(no receipt so swapped fpr a decent CD). CS asked asked why I didn't want them- about to say something about Welsh but my wife is half Welsh and didn't want to upset the dragon! Then went back into store to pick up another Bryn Trifle (several on shelf all underpriced stickers)-instore scanner test gave no price only message to ask assistant. Took Bryn Trifle and 2 other decent CD's all stickered £7.97 or 3 for £16 to a checkout to test and could see first one was still over priced @ £10.97 but all 3 came to correct £16 so made excuse that had changed mind on 1 and aborted. Tempted to get 2 Bryn Trifles instead but decided looked suspicious as normal person would buy 3 items on this offer so just bought the one.
Then called in to Tesco Express for refund but they said need to go back to main store as audio items not stock items even though they scanned it and confirmed mistake-I explained they would not be taking it back as I expected full refund and keep the product but could see he would not budge.
Is this the case with all Tesco Express stores?0
