    Dear JA HARVEY -
I have never felt so awful, the way some of these staff treat you is despicable and now I will feel very self conscious next time I have to go to my local Tesco's
Absolutely do NOT let them do this to you - listen to all the outraged cries of 'outrageous!' from fellow msers.
Take your misprices straight up to CS with your usual(I'm sure)courtesy and refer to previous occasion, should clone of this experience appear top be shaping up OR if same people are present.
We're with you - always remember this.

Yes, but you also know that it was made with effort and hard work.

Whereas a overcharged CD given to someone for christmas, and they could be thinking "Oh gawd, someones gone to the trouble of spending their hard earned money to get me a gift"

    And they didn't.

I'm not saying its a problem for me, but look at it from the flipside :p

Are you trying to say that there is no effort or hard work (your words) in getting an r+r from a decidedly awkward, hard faced CS assistant. :rotfl:

Hi, BLYROMAHRA, have a great time in NZ from NannaC.
  • Managed to get the fairy and ballerina books, went to CS, and given a refund no problem at all. CS lady very very apologetic... (she did note down barcode numbers, and the misprice, so that may be it for this branch).

Only found this thread yesterday, so thanks!! Have been aware of the r&r policy for years, as I always check my receipts and went back once when I hadn't been given enough refund on a bogof offer (3p short) but never knowingly used it (as in, never gone in on purpose to try and get something for free!) Does it still count as being overcharged these days (mis-refunding a bogof)?

Didn't have much time, but did check out a few other misprices from these threads, and they were either correctly priced or out of stock icon9.gif but there is always tomorrow...icon7.gif and other stores...icon7.gif

  • I also tend to shop when HO is closed. When this kind of thing happens it is best to keep the item ( you could always return it later ) and call HO next morning. They then call the store who should call and tell you to come in for R and R. If you accept the difference, I don't think you can then go back for a full R and R though others may know different.
Once when I called HO I got someone who agreed with the store. I asked for a manager and got lost in the system- called back and the next person was fine. The store called and said ' Yes we were displaying a false advertisement'. Exactly the point I had to give up making the night before.
It is horrible when you are refused and treated like an idiot or a criminal.
However, don't give up! When you get a refund because they have been displaying a false price you are doing nothing wrong. Many other Tesco CS people would have treated you differently and cheerfully refunded you (well almost cheerfully).

Thanks for the advice. So if you have a misprice and it's Sunday, do you not bother going to CS at all then?

Does anyone else know if it's worth complaining to HO about CS at this store not following policy? Do HO also treat customers like something they trod in? Get the impression from reading other's experiences on this thread that some people who work for Tesco (particularly those in my local store) think customers are stupid and should be treated as such.

It's true they make you feel like you're doing something wrong by asking them to adhere to their advertised policy, like making OH run back to the shelf with them and keeping you waiting whilst they go off to confer with whoever  .

It's daft as I go to Tesco with the intention of buying my shopping (and if I find a misprice, then R&R) but my intention is not going to Tesco to hunt out misprices iyswim. I wish they'd either just get their prices right or abandon this policy if they're not going to stick to it.

Rant over and Sainsburys here I come!

Why are so many people seemingly suddenly having problems with Tesco's staff honouring the R&R Policy?

It seems that they are attempting to fob us off with refunding the difference that we have been overcharged.

I was standing next to their R&R Policy board in store this morning and even pointing it out didnt make any difference so why have it?

Maybe we should all make a point of complaining to Head Office about the stores that blatently do this.

It is exactly because people are not complaining when refused they are upping the instances of refusal.

I wouldn't phone HO without giving cs a chance- what are you going to say to HO? I didn't bother going to cs because they didn't sort it last time?
I just think that if you get to the point where you can see you are getting nowhere, it is better to leave calmly than get into an argument with no recourse to HO. I have had excellent cs the last 2 times I have had a refund, so you must not let it deter you.
'Do HO treat you badly? '
Not in my experience. But if they don't get it, the good thing is you can stop the call, phone back and try with someone different- or ask to speak to a manager. In my experience they are very polite.
    Good luck
  • In Tesco Dover last night they got an offer on 30pack 2 finger kit kats, 2.99each or 2 for £4. My eagle eyes spotted 2 packets that also had 10 extra free as well. They didn't go through on the offer so went to CS desk. They told me it was 2 different offers and I couldn't have both. She got me 2 packs without the extras. I was very polite, and said the label didn't say those packes were excluded and as the 10 extra were free it shouldn't affect the current offer. She kept saying I couldn't have both offers but then She phoned her boss and was told to let me have the 2 packs. So I got 80 2 finger kit kats for £4. Not sure, but from reading some of the posts should I have been given the money back as well because I was not charged what the label said? Whatever the case, quite happy with my bargain.

I think ( though anyone feel free to correct me !), that if you had actually pointed out the R&R policy they may have let you have them for free, though you may have had to "debate" it for a while- though its a tricky one - as you actually had 40 packs rather than the 30 packs advertised (even though it was a 30 pack + 10 free!) I think that I, like u would have just been happy with the bargain that I did get, although others may have pushed for the refund. perhaps someone else will be able to tell you for sure ! - Sorry that wan't very helpful was it!!
