Was in Mr T's yesterday, All the Pc's against the SEL price was incorrectly priced!
The biggest spot was the philips 17" TFT package, on box £598 SEL £546, was 3 different models of PC'S neatly stacked all with different SEL prices!
I daren't do it (after the last freebie)!
But would the Manager win with this one?

but they still may scan at the lower price despite what the box sticker says...or did you scan one to check? ;)

The 3 SEL prices match the prices of the 3 displayed PC's, it's just the labels have been put in the wrong places.
Just curious what outcome would have been!
  • Just had a right two and eight with my Customer Services.

Wasn't sure if I was in the right but thought I'd try.

Small packs of Pork Loins were priced £5.99 kg on product but two shelf tags, one under the large packs and one under the small packs marked £5.65 kg.

I gave it a go, but they just weren't having any of it! Shelf tag isn't referring to small packs she said, and we'll move the tag straight away now we know that customers are getting confused over it....

Got me all hot under the collar and now drinking some very sweet tea to calm ze nerves!

Was I right or was I wrong?

I would say you should of got it, you purchased it thinking it was the lower price. The cs admitted that it is misleading by saying they will remove it due to confusion, by doing so they are admitting that the item could be purchased on the intention of the paying the price that they have now moved.

Both of these examples should have been paid as per the policy I was emailed:

    HERE

Here is the bit in that email thats says so:

    These are examples of overcharging:

Size on SEL correct but price charged is higher than on SEL

SEL with price for small variant displayed against larger variant of product

The PC's in Blackpool have different SEL's at the price on the box. SEL £499.94 and box stickered at £498. Scanning at £498 so looks like this one is finally sorted out.

just been to tescos ilkeston, where i had a look at the pc's i noticed a laptop on the box it has a sticker saying 599 but on the SEL it says 568, i was not brave enough to try it and in store scanner was not working either.
I believe that Tesco try to make the price on the SEL match that on their BackOffice system (i.e. what you should be charged at the checkout). If a product or display unit is pre-priced and that price is greater than that on the SEL, you should always be charged the SEL price. In the case of the laptop, it was pre-priced at £599, but the label and system price was £568. You would have only paid £568 and therefore not been overcharged.

Be careful when checking prices and remember the staff are there to help so just ask them to check how much the product is - (but don't tell them if you think it is mispriced), just buy it quickly if you're right. They'll soon know when you check back to Customer Services to get your refund!
  • I bought a tin of celebrations last night and they scanned throught the till at 0.01p. My helpful assistant noticed (damn) and woudl not let me have them.

We worked out that I had managed to pick up what was probably the only odd sized tin. The 2 for £10 ones are 1.2kg I picked up one 1.3kg and celebrations monopoly, but she spotted that too helpfully!

So if you see any 1.3kg celebrations, with a large shop you may get away with it.

Not so keyuk. Wanted to know price of loose grapes at chorley store,as there were 2 prices on display, being loose (free weight) could not use scanner, so went to quiet till and asked lady to price check and weigh for me. She answered, "sorry but we are not allowed to do that anymore"

My reply "ok i'll take them then" she weighed and scanned, i noted weight and price, then said "sorry I don't want them!" Nuff said. :p
