It's just interesting to see that they STILL havent rectified these misprices and are quite happily overcharging weeks after they have been alerted to the mistakes.
Well we now have a Disney DVD collection of 22 and counting for our little girl due to exchanging overcharged goods...so at least someone's happy. :)

Heh, interesting you mention both of those. As far as I am aware, from the knowledge of my store, both books and Disney DVDs are outside merchandised.

i.e. an outside company restocks/prices/labels them. As are greetings cards too.

Hence the big 'scandal' in the paper recently about Tesco price stickers being placed over ASDA (cheaper) price stickers on books in Tesco - because it was a stupid rep that did them

I think we still check them, but ultimately it is the reps that put them out and label the books with them little stickers.
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.

I take your point, however Tesco is of course responsible for the products it's sells advertised price corresponding with the price it charges. The products are on their shelf, with their stickers on after all....and with so many misprices they should double check every product before it goes on the shelf.
I have found lots of mispriced books, but the disney dvd's are usually exchanges from other mispriced cd's and dvd's. So far I have only found the princess diaries and Ella DVD's mispriced (I think both of them are Disney?)
I hadnt heard about the Tesco stickers over the Asda ones...that really would have been a !!!! up of extreme proportion LOL.

What on Earth is a non-genuine customer?
If you have bought an item you are a customer. If you were overcharged on any item then you will be refunded on that item and get to keep it. That's of course assuming you notice!

I had a new overcharge rule stated to me in Bedford last week!
Sir, You haven't left the premises with the overcharged goods so the best we can do for you is to refund you what you have been overcharged!
But I have left and come back in, the rest of the shopping is in the car, and I've come back in with the mispriced goods.
That's not left the premises sir, it's still Tesco property!
Okay yes you're right but that is not Tesco' policy. Can I either take your name and I'll contact HO in the morning or you can call your manager to speak to me!
So she went to the phone in a huff and called a manager.
The manager was completely different and he came with me to the shelves then ordered the refund stating to the CS staff that this is company policy!
I asked him to politely, but firmly, explain this to the original lady that had, by now, dissapeared!
So before getting your refund make sure you drive out of the car park, around the roundabout and then back in, so that you have left the premises! lol.

It occurs to me that if you did really leave the premises then the refund could be refused on the grounds that the item you are returning isn't the one on the receipt - particularly if the receipt has some generic term such as "Compact Disk £9.99" - how could you really prove that the CD you are returning marked at £6.99 was the one you had bought on that trip and not 1 week earlier at the correct price?

I didn't try the PC misprice but if I had I'm not sure I would have risked taking the item out of the premises after paying in case it was scanning correctly by the time I returned!

I heard the same thing from a person in store, on the CDs section. Said that the section was controlled by external people, and they have had instances, where an ASDA sticker is cheaper under the Tescos sticker. Every little helps .... make pricing errors inevitable !

Edit : on the subject of the till receipt in Tescos in think that it is unbelievbly slack business practice that they have no mention of the exact product sold, no bar code, generic desciption. I would have thought the auditors would have been all over this like a rash !
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D

It isn't taking a risk on the pc as it had a cheaper price on the box and a higher price on the receipt, the box also stated tesco on it. If it had of been scanning correctly by the time you went back you still would of received a full refund and kept the pc as it is tesco's policy on misprice items regardless of the amount of the item

Leyland have not got any scanners at all. But they do have alot of really nice cs staff, unlike middlebrook.

If you really do need to try the price of something take it through a quiet till and watch as it scans, if it goes through overpriced, accept it and return later for refund, possibly after purchasing a few more of the item, but, if it scans right then just say to the checkout person, "oh i'm sorry but i've decided i don't really want it"

It doesn't on your receipt, but our BackOffice records the exact barcode of each item on your receipt anyway, and those codes along the bottom - the last one is your 'customer number' which we can match to the records.

Edit: Oh and theres an ongoing project to improve product descriptions on receipts - especially around CDs and infotainment, which is nightmare to CS. You should notice some CDs coming through with artist names now on receipt
