"can't sell it I'm afraid, there has been a PRE" "PRE ? what that" "It's a product recall emergency", "Oh, why can't you sell it to me then" "well, it means that the products are dangerous or contaminated etc. sorry. we will have to take them all off the shelf"

    Oh well

First and last time OH is going to be getting a R&R for me ! :rotfl:

total rubbish what they told you about the goods been dangerous, an "EPW "or emergency product withdrawal was emailed to all the stores approx 2 days after the pricing error was reported on here, basically telling all stores to remove them from sale because of the pricing error.
head office puts a block on that item so when a cashier tries to scan said item it flashes a message on screen and you cannot scan it to sell.

So why are they still on the shelves?

    Hello everyone,
There are still a few Antonio Whassisname's Italia books stickered at 12.97 in stores - still scanning at £14.97. There are also still a few kiddies books with sticker/scanning conflicts too. (See overcharge thread for details)
I really couldnt be bothered with the hassle of taking them back to CS yesterday, so didnt bother to buy them. It's just interesting to see that they STILL havent rectified these misprices and are quite happily overcharging weeks after they have been alerted to the mistakes.
Well we now have a Disney DVD collection of 22 and counting for our little girl due to exchanging overcharged goods...so at least someone's happy. :)

just been to tescos ilkeston, where i had a look at the pc's i noticed a laptop on the box it has a sticker saying 599 but on the SEL it says 568, i was not brave enough to try it and in store scanner was not working either.

my only excuse is that i'm a virgin (in the tesco misprice sense of course!) but
what does SEL mean, i am gonna go to my local tesco 2day and look for some errors. :A

    Hello boltonangel
SEL is an abbreviation for Shelf Edge Label.
Good luck at your local today! :)

they are still on the shelves because they are ok to sell. The product was re-authorised for sale a couple of days ago. The store should have removed the "not for sale" flag......

Just been to Wigan Tesco and bought the Antonio whatsisname book, marked up at £12.97, but wen through the till at £14.97. However, the cashier noticed it the difference!! !!!!!!! She got a manager to mark it down to £12.97!! AARRGHHHH!!! I knew I should have self scanned or gone to the dizzy cashier 2 tills down!! However, I had the last laugh......I took them back to CS (told them I had bought the wrong book) and mentioned that my Outdoor Reared pork, was incorrectly priced, per kg. Oh how I laughed as I got me money back on my pork!

tesco prestwich today, got some of the cheese (sel1.19, pack 1.24, scan 1.24) and pootled off to CS. Explained overprice, she says "you just got the two?" (cos they're 3 for £3) and i said "yes, you didn't have any wensleydale in which was the other one I wanted". she says "and they scan at 1.24", and I say "yes, here look at the reciept".

She goes to her til thing, scans them, and says "so what do you want me to do, put them through at 1.19?"
Indignantly I point at the r & r poster and say" your policy says I get a refund and the cheese for free", so grumpily she obliges. Miserable cow.

She didn't even check the SEL.

No free range eggs mispriced though, and scanner still out of action (must be 8 weeks now)
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

    EPW

    EPW's are great

I always have to try and explain at the checkout (as I work for checkouts) that we can't sell it because (as it states on the screen) there is a legal issue with the product.

Then they ask why theres a legal issue, and I say I don't know, because chances are this is the first time we know about it too - because Head Office sets the EPW flag on the product (which is set immediately on all checkouts). then there is an EPW cascade chain to receive the email about it - so that normally follows shortly after.

Proceed to argument about why a dangerous product is still on the shelf, and I say "hence why we have this EPW facility at the till to stop you from buying it!" and why it hasnt been removed from the shelf yet, even though it only happened in the last 10-20 mins lol.

Edit: Ignore PC bit... answered in last post, bless the FMC/PI peeps ;)
Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.
