Wanted to know price of loose grapes at chorley store,as there were 2 prices on display, being loose (free weight) could not use scanner, so went to quiet till and asked lady to price check and weigh for me. She answered, "sorry but we are not allowed to do that anymore"
My reply "ok i'll take them then" she weighed and scanned, i noted weight and price, then said "sorry I don't want them!" Nuff said.

Tesco are jumping on overprices now, maybe they're getting wise (and reading these forums?) finally...
Tried all the newly found cd's - prodigy singles scanned correctly, Festival CD came up when scanned as 'ask a member of staff', the kareoke (sp?) cd was correct, so were a few others I tried.DONE: Great North Run 09! Raised £452 for the National Autistic Society

I was feeling a little sheepish about working the Price Promise from time to time - until I had a particularly nasty exchange with a jobsworth (having spotted some Multivitamins priced on the shelf at 99p, then being charged at the till around £2.50, I had a rush of blood to the head and challenged the price error BEFORE I had handed over the money - stupid me. This gave him the opportunity to backpedal, saying I had not been 'charged', even though it was printed on the receipt still in the till. He was horrible to me, so in the end I gave the vitamins back, but not before I had made sure everyone in the shop was aware of how you can be ripped off by misleading prices! One lady even came into the carpark and asked what it was all about. Then last week, checking my receipt (AS WE ALL SHOULD DO!) i found I had been charged twice for one item. Straight to CS, where she refunded me just the cost of the 2nd scan. I pointed out that if I hadn't spotted their error, they'd have made £1.38 profit illegally, and asked for the second refund, in line with their promise. She knew full well that she should have offered this from the start, but clearly thought I was dumb enough to accept just one refund. It makes me mad that - if I took goods valued at £1.38 from them, they'd call the police, yet they clearly take money from their customers every day and get away scot-free!!! Grrrrrr.......0

Addy wrote:And your point is? (btw disguising nasty comments with smilies doesn't really work).
Whilst I may have FELT like one, I will never BE as big a one as Tesco are EVERY time (and there are many as this thread and the other thread have clearly shown) that customers are overcharged and don't notice.
My point is one of how would you know what a common thief feels like??
No offence was meant by the comment hence the question marks and smilies. If you chose to take it as an insult or a nasty comment then that is entirely your decision and i am sorry you took it that way.
I am not sorry to have made the post as i was intending to bring a little humour to the thread.

Tried the Monopoly Quality street on a scanner, also came up "ask member of staff", I wonder if this is new, if they have incorrectly priced items? Actually, the SEL said £11.98 anyway, but was experimenting. In the last two stores I have been in, the Carluccio book has had the stickers removed, CD's generally not price labelled and often not SEL either. As seanparkin says, maybe at least some stores are getting wise.0 -
Not a chance of a refund today....
had 2 packs of 3 for £3 cheese, double gloucester, SEL £1.19, pack marked £1.24, scanned at £1.24
Prodigy CD SEL £9,77, Poster £8.97, Scanned £9.77.
Was refused refunds for both products on the grounds that
1) the poster was out of date for cd and the SEL was correct.
They said it was last weeks poster - I wasnt allowed to check the poster after CS had their hands on it. Had a refund on this and told them I'd take my money to a shop where I would pay the price on display
2) I hadn't been charged more than the pack stated, despite the SEL being wrong. 'It does say on the Shelf edge OR the pack and the pack says £1.24 which you were charged'. Kept this though 'cos we buy this anyway
Looks like they're starting to get picky - 'bout time really, maybe they'll try and get it right now!!
On a better note though I noticed they were installing self scanning checkouts :T0 -

When an item comes up as "Ask member of staff" it generally means that the item is not on file.. This means that the barcode is not set up centrally and therefore is not recognised by instore systems. It generally takes around 3 days for this to be corrected as there has to be interfacing between head office and instore pricing systems which only happens overnight.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

I've also found when this comes up that scanning the item again after a few seconds results in it scanning. I go to Tesco Glasgow St Rollox and was often put off by this until I was very keen to know the price and asked a member of staff. They scanned it and it worked.0
