Well it's already in the public domain - how else can I advertise for a lodger?
Well, certainly the smoothest departure that Big Badger House has seen - a quiet knock on the door and MauritiusLodger had all his bags packed, waiting for a taxi. Room is beautifully cleaned out, ready to go! I'm just thinking about taking a photo of it - do you think it would benefit my SpareRoom advert?

I was just about to suggest that a photo of the room would be more conventional (but a lot less interesting) than the picture of you serenading a bottle of vodka :D And you do look like Amy Winehouse's prettier cousin!

Good luck, and keep us posted!

I think a photo of the room all spick & span is a good idea. Use it as proof for deposit for when the next tenant leaves...;)
  • Badger lady - I go away for a day and a lodger has moved out??! He he. Things certainly move fast in your place!!

I would defo put a couple more pics up on the site, maybe of bathroom & living area? Lets people get a better idea of what the shared space looks like?

And I would suggest putting your safety deposit up - I think a month's rent is standard. I used to have it at £100 but then got stung when psycho lodger flounced out owing me £300  I learned my lesson there!!

Hope you get someone (sane) in soon!! :)

OK, first new potential lodger is coming round tonight... I know nothing about him other than his title and surname! Let's call him "Mr A".

So what shall I ask him?

  • Can you ask him if he can live up to the full-time job and honour of being a tenant in the Badger Household?

He needs to supply many laughs, interesting dramas and top-notch entertainment for us lot on here.

Can he cope with all that? :D

Blimey - its all change in the Big Badger House. Do you know - this thread is more addictive and is far funnier than Big Brother:rotfl:

Now you need to ask potential new lodger - if he expects to have girlfriends stay over 6 nights out of 7 especially the type that scream and bang the headboard when they reach the point of no return:eek:

Good luck with finding a new lodger - let's hope he is as entertaining as the last one so that we can have our weekly fix of Life in the Big Badger House:rotfl:

Uhm having looked at the room (I am not in Newport so not interested but was curious to see what noisy chap had vacated), have you got a hidden camera in the ceiling? I only ask because it looks as though someone has been close to the ceiling when taking the picture:rotfl:

I think you need to up your deposit too - I know that when I rented my flat I had to pay a deposit of £525 and then one month's rent (same amount) up front, hopefully when I leave my landlord will return my deposit.:D

Tee-hee! I climbed up a stepladder for the pic - otherwise it's difficult to get an impression of size

The only reason I put the deposit so low was to encourage people... the target market for room rentals tend not to have much available cash and will either be splitting up from a partner or leaving their parents for the first time. A few others advertise the same amount of deposit and I don't want to lose out over such a silly thing - fingers crossed so far it's always been enough...

If you do a search for rooms to rent in Newport now, there are hundreds! It's that bit more competitive now than it was last year - though I'm always amazed how quickly I get new enquiries
