ohh, how odd. So there seems to be a pattern emerging of tenants starting to malfunction in the months before they leave....
Wonder what conclusion can be drawn from it co-inciding with Quackers moving in?Ellie

That's the plan! It's printed off and ready to go
Our new lodger is still waiting for his cheque to clear... he's at his daughters' house this weekend but really would like to move in Sunday if it clears tonight.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

So when was the last date you gave him? What are you going to do if you don't hear from him by then?0 -

Sunday 22nd - he's still got next weekend (or could still come Sunday this weekend). If he hasn't said he's coming by Saturday 21st, to give 24 hours' notice of coming to collect, then it will be turfed out into the front garden because my family are coming to stay and I need my sister to stay in that little spare room.
I'll try and hold onto the obviously expensive stuff, like the Wii. They should be sold on eBay and the profits over what he owes me sent on to him... in fact I'm tempted to list the auctions now and then just pull it if he turns up! But it probably would turn out to be wasted effort.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Do not even contemplate selling his possessions on ebay unless you are absolutely certain of your rights and responsibilities in law! It's not like you have no way of contacting him or don't know where he works. Be careful.
Which new lodger's cheque? Is this the chucked out chef?0 -

Is that the one whose "eyes welled up when talking about his children"?
That made them sound like toddlers, not grown ups with their own properties!Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

The bloke is going through a break up for goodness sake, cut him some slack. Unless he's robotic, he's bound to feel emotional and that can show at inadvertent times.Herman - MP for all!0 -

They're 6 and 8! His wife is moving out for the weekend while he goes to stay with them.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

That's just what I have done... given him formal written notice (which he has acknowledged) of:
- what items he's left behind,
- where they are being stored,
- plenty of opportunity to come and collect them,
- a deadline (2 weeks from the date of the letter) beyond which they will be disposed of and the manner of their disposal.
- various options on how to contact me.
That puts me perfectly within my legal right to commence disposal on the date I told him.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
