If he wasnt planning on taking it all, was he planning on filling your bin with the rest? Now, after he's moved out and no longer contributing to the council tax?0

If he didn't show I'd then deliver everything to his parents' house, complete with a strongly worded letter advising how much he owes you (including all of the damage he did), and that if it hasn't been paid within 7 days you'll be taking him to court.
I think you'll probably wimp out though

"Another wasted journey to yours, Eff him! Who bloody cares? Yet another complaint when it's all his own blessed fault. He should have said when he was coming. Big nasty baby. The stuff downstairs I'm not even keeping half of it"
There is a world of difference between not keeping half of it and not taking half of it. I wouldn't worry about that at all. He possibly wanted to do the sorting from the comfort of your lovely home. And while he was drinking your tea and listening to your DVD or DAB while he was at it. The home which is no longer his.
n.b. I can be in Newport in a couple of hours. We could sort this lodger's !!!!!! and settle his bloody hash. And then once done we could pop out round the corner for drinkies with my lovely, young, most amusing, handsome AND SINGLE friend Chest Rockwell. Boro da!0 -

I assume you're not coming tonight! I'll be driving to London tomorrow afternoon so I'll be here ready 10am-midday. Let me know if you can't make that.

Hmmm... Almost the same response came from our manchild lodger (the cannabis plants chap) when I asked what he was doing with two years worth of the NME and assorted !!!!!! mags he left in the cupboard under our stairs.
I ended up driving the lot to the tip.0 -
B-L, why on earth are you being so accommodating to this waste of life? It's the equivalent of bending over to be shafted (repeatedly).Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Because B_L is a decent person and it's important for her self-image to behave in a decent and Christian way, especially towards the much less fortunate, obviously. Or she's bonkers. But nice.0

I for one think B_L should be proud of herself- remaining so polite and dignified is a really hard thing to do, and at least you still have that. Well done for not letting him get to you.
Of course, being firm would be optimal, but when dealing with an awkward person, if you're "too harsh", they'll resist, and when what you're saying doesn't fit in with their plans, they'll just ignore it, and complain. And if you act without their input, and they don't like it... Well, they're gonna let you know.If it rains, it rains.
We'll be in the street, looking thunder in the face,
Singing la la la la la,
I wont change0 -
