P.S. I've had to laugh at BigBruv, every time he talks about his new home...

    - Half the neighbours at his new place have got ASBO's - there's a properly rough council estate starting at the end of their road.
    - He whined last night that I've changed the Virgin TV package and he's lost his Air Crash Investigations. I asked what channels his new landlady's got and apparently it's just the terrestrial 1-5!
    - He asked me about what one needs to access the internet, because his new landlady has never gone online. I'm therefore guessing there'll be no WiFi.
    - The new landlady is home all day, every day, never goes on holiday and is lonely now that her grown-up daughter has moved out.

Sounds like he's going to be much happier! :rotfl:

The new landlady must have other attractions ie. cheap or no rent and maybe single with big bazookas:rotfl:

It will be awkward with no proper telly or internet..shame:rotfl:

Perhaps he is turning into a boomerang kid and just needs mothering?

    We may have a winner!

Number 8 went round to look at the room this morning. I was in London so she met BigGunsLodger and apparently fell in love with the place. She's young but has moved from abroad so she's got a lot of independence, and she's very much into music and cats - she's excited to have a proper piano to play and a Tufter to smother :)

I've asked BigGuns to let me know what he thought, and will do a telephone interview with her this evening, but we've already texted a lot and think we know the score.

Just did the telephone interview and liked what I heard :) She seems very sensible, does shift work at a very nice place down the road and likes the others. Winner! She moves in on the 24th / 25th July (BigBruv moves out on the 20th).

Why are lodgers so silly? Number 2 (the older chap who used to live on my road but was in a rush) texted me yesterday to ask if my room was still available, because his new place is a hole and he wants to escape. I told him sorry, he's too late.

And there's a toilet paper feud that's beggaring belief at the moment... since I've been spending less time there, I've stopped buying all the toilet paper. After all, last time I bought a pack of 4 rolls it was all gone in a week and I'd only been there 2 days!

I was staggered when BigBruvLodger said in his settling-up agreement that he'd deducted "some money I spent on cat food and toilet roll". Cat food fair enough, but a personal hygiene item?? I guess in nearly a year of living there he must have never bought any, and come to think it was somehow included in his rent.

Anyway, so last time I was home (2 weeks ago), the toilet roll had run out. So I decided to take a stand and not buy more, assuming that one lodger or the other would just pick some up with his shopping. Noooooo - this weekend, still no paper! What have they been doing, wiping with socks?? I again refused - I bought a packet and hid it in my room, removing the toilet roll again after each visit.

I look forward to checking up on the situation when I go home this weekend and BigGunsLodger has been living there alone for 3 days...

  • I can sympathise - my lodger was the same - thought loo paper was brought by the loo-roll fairy!
Not being sexist but in my experience men think they use nothing and don't factor in the amount of loo roll they use for things like nose blowing etc!

Seems a bit of a silly thing but either set them straight so they get their own in future or find out who sells that nasty shiny stuff they used to use in schools and buy that....:)
Penny: I'm a little low on cash.
    Leonard: How much you got?
    Penny: Nothing!
Leonard: How can you walk around with no money?
Penny: I'm cute, I get by.

It would just be nice if it was there waiting for me, without having to spend £2 a week on the stuff (on top of what I buy in London)! :(
