Big Badger House (aka Noisy Lodger) HE'S GONE!
Comments

It's all go! I've got four PotentialLodgers lined up now, including the one described above. The other threevare:
1. An older chap who lived in the house opposite to mine years ago. He's since been living abroad but his parents are now quite elderly so he wants to move near them.
2. A young lady in her mid-twenties who works at the local supermarket.
3. A chap with a foreign accent - I couldn't make everything out on the phone so I don't know anything about him!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Well, let's hope that whoever you choose likes cats and would be willing to feed Tufters and ensure he has access to outside when you're away. In my opinion that's not a lot to ask in exchange for having a nice place to live with a decent landlady who's away a lot of the time.0

Well I've put the cat's details on the advert this time and am making it clear all along that it's a condition of moving in! So there can be no ambiguity about whose job it is.
It sounds like this cat sitting lady might be a good emergency measure too - if she's familiar with Tufter, she can step in if the lodger needs to go away or if I don't come home on a weekend. I'll also speak to BigGuns and see how he feels about stepping in.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Ahem, Another lurker sidles out of the woodwork after marathon post-catch-up session...
Best thread by a mile on here Badger_Lady!:D
Best of luck with Tufty and lodgers past, present and future - you really are a remarkable person, +1 to the fan score...
Mike
PS When the film comes out are we all getting extra roles?
PPS Don't you think Tufty should have an official place on the PotentialLodger interview panel in future?0 -
Okay, so the interviews are under way...
Yesterday I met numbers 1 and 2.
1. was a very nice-looking chap! He was a little brusque though - he whizzed round the house, saying he needed to move very quickly, and then left again so I didn't learn much.
2. was a really sweet girl - I got a very positive vibe from her. She was a bit difficult to understand though, something about her house burning down and then a landlord stealing all her clothes?? Really weird. She also wants to move in the next week or so.
BigBruvLodger came home in the evening. We deliberately avoided talking about the argument and instead chatted about his moving out. He's apparently found a room nearby with a lonely lady (sounds dangerous to me) and is ready to move whenever a replacement needs, so that's OK. We discussed all the details, he paid me his rent up to 20th July and I agreed to refund him whatever's left if I ask him to move sooner.
So this weekend:
3. I'm not sure if this guy's still coming - he said he'd confirm an appointment time but hasn't done so yet. I can't say I'm bothered.
4. Now this young lady I like! She's close to my age (just slightly older) and works in my hometown during the week, heading home to her partner at weekends. She has two cats at home who she misses, so is keen to transfer her affections onto Tufter if she gets the room. We've spoken on the phone and recognise that we have a lot in common - common interests, similar lifestyles and a matching love of cats! She's a professional with a full set of references etc and she seems really keen on the place. She has an appointment for Friday.
5. I don't know if this is a male or a female! It sent me a brief message on Spareroom asking me to fix an appointment, but it doesn't have an advert or profile of its own and has revealed nothing. Hmm. It also has an appointment for Friday.
6. An older guy (close to BigBruvLodger's age) who I've exchanged a number of emails with an seems really friendly. He works in the area and has asked to view this weekend - appointment yet to be fixed.
That's it so far...
P.S. Hello Mike!

I like the sound of number 4 and would make Tufter very happy but number 2 sounds like they could be more trouble than they are worth.
Nothing seems to striking about the rest so far.

7. A slightly older chap who's on a work contract in the area for 3 months. He's got a menagerie of animals at home including two cats, so is well willing to look after our Tufters. Appointment booked for Friday.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Come in Number 4 ...
She sounds a good, problem free option.0 -
Yep, 4 gets my vote too.
Sounds like the best bet all round for everyone especially Tufters

Aah, number 7 just cancelled - apparently he's had an "ideal offer of accommodation out of the blue" so he wished me luck and said he was sorry to miss out on meeting Tufter.
Bring on number 4!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
