No it's national (well, certain cities anyway). That was where I found QuackersLodger, and what a joy she turned out to be! :rotfl: Gumtree does have a bad rep - lots of scam artists and thieves on there, which puts people off taking it seriously for housing.

Hmm... I can't see that advert either, when I use a different computer / session. Yet when I log in it says:
This room has been found by 14 mondaytofriday searches.
The details of the room have been viewed 67 times by mondaytofriday users.

    Is it lying??

Yeah I guess so. I don't really know much about this site to be honest - someone on another forum recommended it and I thought "Sod it, worth a go!".

Unfortunately Spareroom isn't really free any more. If you put a free ad up, prospective lodgers have to pay to contact you... Which they don't like doing. It used to be that after a week your ad becomes 'free to contact', but nowadays every time you renew to stay near the front of the list it restarts the paid period :( So you're basically force to pay for a bold listing (or only get lodgers who've paid to upgrade themselves).

    Complicated, huh?

My Sunday-Thursday lodger left his things in the room at weekends, but paid the going rate; up to him whether he stayed over or went home.

Spareroom's 'early bird access' isn't that expensive (£18 for 28 days). It keeps your ad at the top of the list, lets everyone contact you, and if you find a new lodger quickly you can suspend the balance of the time you've paid for, for up to a year I think. I'm on my 3rd lodger and still have a few days 'credit' from one £18 payment. :)

OK, I've just had an email to say "your ad has been accepted". Try again and let me know - I'll kick off if you still can't see it!

love the bit that says there is a football table and aged cat to keep them entertained.

    Poor moggy:eek::rotfl:
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
  • LOL. No, never travelled. Not been abroad. No foreign holidays (only 3 UK holidays to date in fact).

Hang on, I'll just check ... nope. None out there at the moment. Maybe it's a seasonal thing!

I live in a studio/bedsit. No room to swing a cat, I'm guessing a bullfighter would need room to practice!

There must BE interesting guys in my area. But how would one know? I am a recluse/hermit and know nobody really. And it always looks grey/wet outside, so I tend to be here instead :)

you sound as if you are living my life but without being in a bedsit. :(

We had a party on Saturday! Officially it was to welcome BigBruvLodger to the neighbourhood, but we gave it a spooky theme to suit the season.

Most hilarious party ever :rotfl: all in fancy dress, with some right weirdoes present. One sat in a chair with his head in a bucket most of the way through, and another just wouldn't leave - by 11am the next day we were threatening him with the police . One of my friends drank too much and started giving everyone psychotherapy, and when the facepaints came out my ex OH had a rude bodypart drawn on his face.

    Good times

You have had some absolute belters living with you but this one just sounds like a loser :o Living at home at age 30 and his parents only live a few miles away - I have visions of him being like Ronnie Corbett in Sorry! He doesn't sound like he is exciting enough for this thread :p

    Next.....

I know plenty that live with parents in their 30's they can't afford to move out.
