i've found a brilliant range of olive oil face stuff, serious skin care, & have just had 3 items delivered off this ebay seller in the US (£25 inc delivery - bargain :)).

i know it's not strictly 'money-saving', but it's still a lot cheaper than some brands out there!

I was really worried about it being too runny & messy, but my Grapeseed & Castor Oil mix is not bad at all.

Gets eye makeup off a treat. Even my super duper, last till the bitter end stuff.

On the "cheap" makeup thread, someone has posted about the vitamin E oil they buy from Holland & Barrett.

I wonder would that be a good carrier oil?
Vitamin E oil is susposed to be good for the skin isn't it?

Wow this is a good board! and this thread!!!!!:j

I have TERRIBLE skin, covered in scars from spots and then actual spots open pores you could live in and black heads too just for the hell of it. I find it very depressing - plus many facial products cause horrible red reactions like burning on my face so I have to be careful what I use.

I recently bought some stuff from ebay all natural and it seems pretty good. So that has sparked an interest in more natural products. and here i find the Oil cleansing method.

I really like the idea of it not being yet another chemical filled product. I still use a No 7 moisturiser mind you - haven't completely converted!
So I need castor oil and some kind of carrier oil. I will wait and se what the answers are about the vit e oil.

so who else has had success with oil? it does sound weird, but truthfully I passed my wits end some time again

    xx

Vitamin E oil is usually only used to make up a small portion of a blend, as it works out cheaper that way and it's a little too heavy to use on it's own. If you add any essential oils or herbal infusions to your oil, it'll also act as a preservative :)

'[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Vitamin E oil is an excellent antioxidant, and adding it to any aromatherapy blend will help extend the life of most vegetable oils. One or two capsules (200 to 400 IUs) per two-ounce bottle of carrier is enough. Just !!!!! the end of the capsule with a pin and squeeze. '

The rest of the article is good and will give anyone who wants more info on carrier oils a good overview http://health.howstuffworks.com/how-to-use-aromatherapy2.htm

See the post above this & below yours from Nicifer_noonoo, she KNOWS her oils. So if she says its a bit heavy on its own, it is!!!

Nicifer_noonoo recommended GRAPESEED oil to me (as I wanted a light oil, to unblock congested pores) & its great.

You need 3 parts caster oil 100ml & 7 parts GRAPESEED OIL 233ml and mix:D

    I'm lovin it:D & I was strictly a soap [STRIKE]dodger[/STRIKE] :rotfl: girl.

    Try it;)

Has anyone tried this using the sunflower oil? I have the Vit E oil from Holland & Barrett and was thinking of doing 30% castor oil, 10% vit e and 60% sunflower oil, would that work?

Also, can you add essential oils to the mix?

  • How long should I be using the OCM for?

Tried it for a week now and it first it seemed to be clearing up my skin, but now I've got a few lumpy 'orrible spots.

    GRRR.

Is it worth sticking at it?
