been reading all the posts and i think i will try this ocm too.
i find the castor oil and clearing constipation/congestions at both ends - being related to clearing skin - as a healthly and regular bowels keeps skin healthy too.

a query - does this mean i could give up the weekly masks and facials - as soon as i start on the ocm,...??

Thinking on it I cant remember the last time I used a mask. I think it was a moisturising one just after I started the OCM as I got very dry and tight for a few days till I got the balance right. But my usual favourite clay mask is sat in the cupboard untouched.

I made my first batch of OCM with 200ml caster oil & 300ml grapeseed oil.

To go abroad for my holiday I decided to decant the remaining 200ml of grapeseed oil into the already made solution (so was 200ml of caster & 500ml of grapeseed). & then poured the amount I wanted to take into the bottle that had the left over (but now empty) grapeseed oil.

My skin is terrible, spotty like I can't ever remember it so bad.

When I got back I went into chemist & got another 100ml of caster oil & mixed it in.

So now its 300ml caster to 500ml grapeseed oil. It works better (it feels better) with a very high castor oil content for me.

On holiday it felt like I was just using grapeseed oil & no castor oil in it.

Don't know whats caused all the spots:confused:

    I have one 3 big ones & 2 small ones:o

I read about the OCM on here and decided to give it a go. I have had spots and oil problems on my face from about age 11 til now (36!) so i though it sounded so good i'd give it a go.
I bought my castor oil from Boots and got some olive oil and mixed a ratio of about 20% castor oil to 80% olive oil. The first few times i tried it i was blown away, my skin felt amazing and the oil seemed to clear up completely, and i had no mid morning sheen across my face.
After reading about different mixtures and ratios i decided to try grapeseed and castor oil because i read that the grapeseed was lighter. Oh boy, i don't know what has happened but after trying it only ONCE my skin is horrendous. I'm back to olive oil & castor oil in desperation to try and clear up my skin. But honestly i have two huge clusters of angry red looking spots on either side of my jawline now, and its quite distressing. I'm trying everything to clear them up.

    Any ideas anyone?

I'm increasingly becoming convinced that we may be too quick to blame just one thing for an outbreak of spots or whatever (I've done it myself).

A while back I was using the OCM- it was fine for a while and then I started coming out in spots. I blamed the OCM and stopped using it. After a couple of weeks I decided to give it another go, and so far it has been fine (a couple of weeks on). Which makes me think I was too quick to blame the OCM in the first place. I seem to remember now that I was using a sunblock every day on top of my usual moisturiser, had changed my night cream, and had changed the type of oil in the OCM from pure olive oil to a mixture of olive and sunflower, and on top of all that was suffering from pmt!!! That was all happening at the same time! So obviously it could have been any one or a combination of those things that was causing the outbreak.

So I have now learned from my mistake! I have decided when I change anything in my skincare routine, that I will only change one thing at a time to give my skin a chance to adjust to it. Also if I leave a gap of say a week between each change, it will give me a better idea of what (if anything) is causing any adverse affects.

I was using a facial sunblock everyday.

I did wonder if this could have caused the problem?

Could have been a combination of this, plus changing the ratio of oils, plus maybe holiday stress, lack of sleep (?), being in a different climate, getting hot and sweaty (don't know if you were somewhere hot!), all at the same time!

I think it's difficult to know the cause sometimes, and what we think is to blame may not be to blame at all (or at least not completely)!

I always advocate only making ONE change at a time to a regime and giving it a while before making another change because too many changes in one go will stress your skin out and result in spots, dry flaky skin etc.

I also break out big time if I use a sunblock on top of a moisturiser - even most moisturisers with a built in sun block will glog my pores and leave me with spots.

For me its mineral make up with its built in SPF on top of a moisturised skin, or on holidays I leave off the moisturiser during the day and use sunblock and use a good night cream

i've just tried a sample of RMK cleansing oil. it's a mixture of carrot oil, olive oil and grapeseed oil and smells minty. it was a lot runnier than my homemade one but was very nice. unfortunately i'm not sure it was nice enough to justify the £22 for 175 ml

I've discovered I like it best with loads of castor oil.

Why can't I use just castor oil?

Can't seem to get hold of castor oil where I live either. What is it with these chemists - they seem to have a list of banned stuff. I remember the same with rubbing alcohol - all the Americans rave about it for cleaning, but cannot get it over here?
