hmmm sounds deliciously natural but again the words "oil" and "face" in the same sentence raises eyebrows.
i'm wondering if this method would be suitable for me. i don't have oily skin, nor am i particularly dry, just the odd bit of dryness around my nose. although since coming home from my summer hols i've been having a major breakout all over my face. previously i would just have had some spots on around my chin and the odd one on my forehead but now there are spots on my cheeks, temples etc... i was using bananaboat sun tan oil so i'm wondering is that what has caused it and hence am sceptical about applying any other kind of oil to my face.
do u think i should try this even tho i don't suffer from oily or dry skin?
what should i mix the castor oil with as i've seen mention of extra-virgin olive oil/olive oil/grapeseed oil/vitamin e oil etc...? and what ratio of oils would u suggest for my skin type?
thanks in advance for your advice
P.S. Suki, i'm from N. Ireland too. Where did u get yr castor oil?
Im getting it from any wee independent chemists, sainsburys stopped stocking it.
If you dont have skin thats prone to oiliness and congestion you dont need to use the OCM. The castor oil is used as the deep cleanser and the olive oil/sunflower oil is used as a thinning agent for it (castor oil is thick).
A lot of sun creams/oils will cause spots and they can block the pores and what with sweating and sun sun oil - well its a recipe for a break out. I would use the OCM for a while, get your skin back in balance. Start with a 20% castor oil mix and see how you go.
And dont worry about oil and skin - no worries. All the big names use oils at inflated prices - Elemis, Decleor , Liz Earle to name a few0 -
Miffy, you sound a bit like me - my skin has always been pretty well-balanced, never oily... I got the odd "hormone spot" on my chin or occasionally round the side of my face, and my nose was sometimes a wee bit flaky. I also had visible pores on my nose and under my eyes.
But, as above, since starting OCM I've had no problems whatsoever. Spots are incredibly rare and usually only when I've missed treatment for a few weeks. And my skin colour seems to have improved - it's still very well balanced but the pores are less visible and I "glow".
If our skin types are similar, then try like me - 20% castor oil, 80% virgin olive oil. I bought myself a nice white facecloth from Boots that's just for this, and I started off doing it every couple of days but reduced down quite quickly.
The actual treatment isn't as fiddly as it sounds either - once you're used to it, it's a quick and easy way to remove your makeup at the end of the night, no problems. Although I don't bother to wear makeup on my skin any more - just on the eyes and mouth.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
i know my skin isn't oily but the spots are coming fast and furious at the minute. i'm wondering is it hormonal changes or something cos i've been on a new pill n i've never known spots like it ? because i'm back from holidays over a month so i'm sure it couldn't still have been the suncream.
i suppose it wouldn't do any harm to give it a go until my skin clears up.
so will any extra virgin olive oil do? i bought the napolina one for my cooking lol is that suitable?
i was using some of eve lom's oil cleanser n it was gorgeous but to buy a full sized tub of it is like £80. think i'll give the OCM a go n let u know how i get on
thanks for the advice

Well to Egypt.0 -
well what can i say but WOW
1'st chemist and i got my castor oil, mixed
1 teaspoon castor oil
4 teaspoons olive oil
that's how i worked my 20% - 80% ratio out
massaged over face and neck, and sat down to watch an episode of friends.
then i did the towel bit, and washed it off.
At 1st face felt a bit greasy, but before going out last night, i washed my face with my normal, facial wash, then i cleansed toned and moisturised.
got up this morning and i have to say that my skin feels very soft and smooth, this will be something that i will be doing regular.0 -

If you look in superdrugs/boots etc, they sell wee plastic 100ml bottles - these are what I use. 100 ml size so its easy to work out the mix and also 100mls gets through security at airports0 -
Well managed to get some castor oil from boots today and was mortified by the woman on the counter. She turned to another lady to see if they had any and when told yes she said "whats that for anyway?", response was "Helping you poo"!!!!
I very quickly responding "and good for facials too!"
Starting with a 30% mix and will see how that goes on.Make £5 per day in August= £100/£155
