I've tried it for the first time and my skin is nice and soft, and flaking is not part has gone.
Blackheads on my nose are still there, but had already gone down considerably because I had been using T-Zon Zapping stick (recommended on this board, and extremely effective!).
As my skin is dry I used 10% CO and 90% EVOO, both organic.
If the CO is not enough to clear by blackheads I will continue to use the T-zone stick, as it's fantastic.
But I love the softness of my skin, lovely!
It felt slightly tight I may get rid of CO altogether if it's too harsh for me.
Overally.... big thumb up and thank you MSErs for another great tip! :T
PS I used the wrong icon, it should have been up, not down LOL0 -

I'd proceed with caution: if its not better for you in some way I'm not sure I'd keep trying. I have a non MSE suggestion which is that when I get outbreaks the best thing for me is Aveda Outer Blemish spot cream. Its in a small tube..I can't remember the product name but the range is Outer blemish, pretty sure its the smaller tube. It helps take the swelling out of stuff for me. I continue to use this with OCM as needed.0 -

Thanks for the advice,
Can you tell me where you buy Aveda?0 -

I buy mine at my hairdressers, but I think this is the find a location page:
http://www.aveda.co.uk/findalocation/index.tmpl
this is the product:
http://www.aveda.co.uk/templates/products2/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT8276&PRODUCT_ID=PROD76298
and you can buy it online.0 -
Hi
Sorry to ask a silly question but does it matter what brand of EVOO you use?

What matters is what type of olive oil you use, extra virgin, cold pressed is the best.
'Mild' olive oil and the like (including 'pure' olive oil), although they make it sound like you are buying olive oil with a milder taste compared to EVOO, in reality you are buying a much inferior product.
However these are general comments about olive oil in general, not specifically about what type is best for OCM. I use EVOO and would not put anything else on my face.

I have adapted this to suit myself - have stopped the steaming and now use a mix of castor oil and EVOO on my face in the morning. After showering I put this on my still wet skin and let it soak in.
As for getting castor oil...I buy it in small independent pharmacies, usually in only 100ml bottles, wherever I go. Been up north (way up north) for a couple of weeks and was in three different small towns each with a small pharmacy so 'farmed' them. Also got some almond oil so will give that a try someday.
My skin reacts to a change in water so have to be very careful :eek:0 -
Eek - I changed from Jojoba oil (ran out and it was expensive to replace) so I bought some grapeseed oil from Mr T's. Urgh my skin is dull and minging looking so back to Jojoba for me!!
I was naughty a bought a facial massage brush from S&G and I have got to say I can see a dramatic difference AND my hands don't get sore.0 -
Just wanted to pop back in here with an update on how I've been doing...
OCM has made a big difference in my skin, I'm so pleased! I've been doing it for a few months now, with 20% castor oil, 80% jojoba. I've not been religious about it, I still occasionally use face wipes (:o) and I don't steam that often, but I do always massage it in quickly before a shower and kind of steam that way, and I'll do a proper/longer massage every couple of weeks.
My skin is now softer than it was before (though still prone to dry patches if I've been having a few too many nights out and not looking after my skin properly), my pores are slightly smaller, and I have virtually clear skin all over - a big step up in some areas.
I'm intending to get back into a better routine to see if i can get my pores any smaller, but if anyone is thinking about trying this, I'd say do it! I'm so pleased I'm cleasing this way, it's the best my skin has been since I was very very little :T0
