Just bumping this query. Also some people mention using Simple facial wipes. Which types are best?
(I noticed that Superdrug were doing them for £1.99 last week and Tesco had 2 for £4.00).

Can you use the Simple Baby Wipes instead? (more in a packet and were at my local poundshop but the packet doesn't mention if can be used on the face).

    Thanks:)

just from my experience, but SImple products have caused the worse eruptions and pain for my skin that i have ever known!!

and please be careful of baby wipes. i know millions of people use them fine, on themselves and on their children.... but painters & decorators also swear by them to remove paint from things...

as for the OCM, my skin is looking very nice, but i do keep suffering big blind spots in the same area once a month... but i think this is realted to my hormones getting back to normal too. i will keep going for now
Please be nice to all moneysavers!

I have oily skin should I start with doing it every other day. I have some perfect and protect serum can I use that afterwards?

    Thanks

I'd try it once, and see how you feel...only your skin can tell you really. You might want to use a higher amount of castor oil than some people if your skin is oily...

re baby wipes etc...I'm just not keen....

Hi ih8stress. I have rosacea too. Last Monday I started with the OCM as face getting more and more upset. Earlier in the year, forgot to go get some proper sunscreen, did a load of gardening in the sun, ended up with angry face. Now have proper Clinique City Block 25 (price, ouch! but it works on me) so sorted on that front, but I was left with crusty red disaster cheeks.

I had only some sunflower oil so I just started with that, and apart from smelling a bit of chips, it's all good. On day 1, sharp line between angry red cheeks and greyish-white bags under the eyes (yes, I'm gorgeous, can you tell?!) began to fade out. I now (Thursday) have reduced redness and the crusty bits on the cheeks are disappearing.

Today I went and spent a whole £1.40 on 100ml of castor oil in Boots (under the counter!) and £1.90 on 200ml almond oil from health food shop, so we shall see if this works even better. With luck it will smell better!

I favour the face flannel (change it every other day) because it holds the heat better for the steaming bit than a muslin cloth. And I splash with cold water after for luck.

Because I use the City Block in the day, and I find it a bit drying, but know I am not supposed to put moisturiser under it (my daughter the soon-to-be Chemistry Masters graduate says, sunscreens that are chemical and physical like CB must be in *direct* contact with the skin to work their best), I do my OCM in the morning. Then at night, brief wash with Lush fresh farmacy followed up by smear of Lush celestial. That seems to do fine for me. I should add, I'm 53 going on 21, and have combination skin.

    Good luck ih8!

    Sally

Thanks for the input Sally.:T It's good to hear about your progress. I have got some olive oil, castor oil and a face cloth in preparation. Just need to make a start.

I tend not to use soap on my face unless it's really necessary but had read on here that even just using water can cause problems, which is why I was also enquiring about the Simple wipes:)
For the past couple of weeks I have experimented with using less water but am not sure if it has made much difference yet.

    Good luck with your ocm.

Sorry to hear you didn't get on well with the Simple wipes. I'll probably give them a miss for now and just try the ocm.

Didn't know that about the baby wipes. Maybe I should get some from the poundshop after all for any decorating tasks:D (They probably soften the paint so it's easy to remove??).

Glad to hear your ocm treatment is working okay. Like you say, if it's 'once a month' you get the big spots then it's most likely those flipping hormones to blame. Who'd be a woman, eh.

    Good luck with your ocm:)

Hello again all. Swapped sunflower oil out, replaced with almond oil. No more smell of chips! Added 20% castor oil and waiting to see if that dries me out too much, so far so good but it's only been 2 days.

I may be imagining it, but I think my face is looking less "dropped" - think maybe the daily massage is making a difference to the muscles. Also I would say, there might be an effect on the lymph system here, even though massage is being performed with all the delicacy and skill of a gorilla (no, strike that, gorillas *do* have plenty of delicacy and skill...). The reason I think that is that I know when I go and visit the massage therapist who looks after my crumbly body, on the times when she does a lot of work on my face and neck, I wake up looking great the next day, bags under the eyes diminished and less dark. Shame it don't last! She says part of this effect is to do with promoting lymph drainage, whatever that is... anyhow, maybe the massage bit of the OCM is a bit like that.

Today's the day my wonderful local open air swimming pool opens for the summer - so now we'll see how I get on with quasi-daily immersion in all that chlorine! I'm feeling that the morning oil-up can't hurt on the protection front, but will let you know how I get on.

Must remember to decant a bit of City Block into a jar and put into my swim kit, otherwise will get fried face loafing about on the poolside after...

    Best of luck all!

PS I use baby wipes to clean my carpets when there's a nasty spill. Magic. Probably best not to let them anywhere near your face then!

I've put this on other threads, so apologies to those I'm on more than one long standing thread with, but yesterday some one said I looked 24-26...having ticked me off for having an opinion to ''big'' for one of such an age. I have for a long while looked old and tired and between OCM and actually staying in a routine for anti aging products have noticed a difference myself, but was amazed some one else would have me as 4-7 years younger than I am!

(nb I am still grinning about this this morning...)

    Hi,

Can I ask a question that's probably been asked but I haven't read all 27 pages so please bare with me.

I'm going to try this method after having oily skin and large open pores all my adult life.

However I'm having a few problems:

Sourcing Caster oil.. I can't find it anywhere!!
Also in terms of the other oil, I've read extra vrigin olive oil, olive oil and sunflower oil. Ok, dumb question, but I have both olive oil and sunflower oil in my stock cupboard, can i use these (assuming i EVER find caster oil.

    Can anyone advise?

    TIA

    1. I have found castor oil most cheaply in boots..its behind the counter though. I have also used a more expensive organic version made my ''Pukka'' and sold in health food shops . They have a website..I linked it somewhere in the thread IIRC, and would probably be able to tell you nearest stockist, but for bg standard castor oil I'd ask your local boots, get them to order it if they don't have it.

Oil..yes, you can use th stuff in your kitchen...I don't, but a friend of mine is using olive oil with great success.

Or if your Boots is like mine (Oh no we don't sell castor oil unless you have a prescription) then you can get it off eBay. I use a shop called mother natures goodies (I think) and the stuffs good. £2.79 for 50ml but its lasted me ages!
