My problem seems to be that my skin just constantly produces oil! Blocked pores and spots are an annoyance but I don't really get that many, the real problem is that I constantly have a greasy face, it looks and feels yukky and makeup doesn't last longer than an hour.

I was lovely and non greasy this morning but within an hour it was back, blotted it off and then more came!

Will perservere - the results are no worse than with other cleansers and at least I'm not getting dry and flakey skin which I usually get from using the harsh chemicals (dry and greasy at the same time, how!)

I get fdry and greasy too...for me its a new thing with health and meds, I used to have rally great skin! and my dry has all gone.

    Hmm....

what time of day do you OC? how do you feel it is after that as opposed to twelve hours later...still as greasy? Is there any difference after oil than after traditional cleansers or water alone after an hour/two hours/three hours?

How long have you been oil cleansing?

    LOL!!! One day :D:D:D :rotfl:

Am sooooooooo impatient and like to see results straight away :o

Should probably report back after a few weeks and give it a chance to work!

Skin is the same amount of grease as normal cleansers but isn't as flaky

Not sure what to use to wash face between OCs...
  • think ill try swapping the carrier oil (extra virgin olive oil) for some almond oil.
i'll give it a few weeks and if still not better go back to my original cleansing

    lol, sorry, of course!:o:D

Yes, give it a few days....what percentage castor oil? How long did you massage, how thoroughly....personally, I would up the castor and give a really good half hour massage (watch a good tv show ;))....see what happens..:D

I did about 1/2 caster oil. I massaged only for about 5 mins, in the shower as we don't have hot water coming out of the taps (don't ask!) so cloth wasn't really that hot...will use the kettle to boil some water and have a good steam

Didn't use makeup today to try and give my skin a good rest but with the shine, blocked pores and spots I look a right state!!

a lot of people report it getting worse before it gets better. TBH, I sometimes do neat castor over ''problem areas''. Its caused me no harm and does, IMO, a better job in the ''bad zones''. Concentrate on massaging the trouble areas, and with litle pressure over large gunky paroes/blackheads mine just....ease out...:o:o

If you are doubt ful about the massage (30 mins does feel like for ever) there are some you tube videos with different facial massages for inspiration.

    Thanks for the tips :)

I think OH will think I have completly lost the plot if I sit massaging my face for half an hour! He already thinks I'm mad! Maybe I can pursuade him to do the massaging...

I will keep trying and see how it is after a week or two. It's definitely better than the cleansers I normally use which leave my skin feeling tight and flaky

another vote for using just the castor oil on problem areas, I also add some facial scrub and just rinse off and rub with my muslin cloths.. the castor oil is supposed to be drying so may help dry your oily patches.

Just thought that I would update ...

I bought Clinique anti-blemish from Boots on Friday as the assistant advised me it would benefit my skin no end. She guaranteed that it wouldn't flare up. She also trialled some foundation on me.

30 minutes later I had to take the foundation off, so used the new cleanser, toner & moisturiser. 3 times I had to cleanse my face to get it off!! Within a couple of hours I resembled a pizza.

Back to my OCM and although my skin is still icky its starting to improve again. I will never try anything on my face again. Even the "brilliant" Elizabeth Arden cream made me break out, argh!

So OCM all the way, now I just need a nice, non irritant, natural looking foundation, hmmmm.

I do it while watching my soaps. Lovely to have some "me" time. OH did think I was nuts but now he's used to it!:rotfl:
