I've ditched the castor oil as it was making my skin mega dry - even the littlest amount. So i'm just using jojoba and my skin is great :D

nikki, are you using only jojoba oil?

I can't find castor oil in my area so I've been doing 50/50 grapeseed oil and extra virgin olive oil. I have spot-prone skin which isn't very oily but it is very sensitive.

I'm getting a few spots in areas I don't normally do after a week of doing it and am thinking about swapping out the olive oil for jojoba oil. My skin has been looking great though with the oil cleansing method and it's definitely something I see myself sticking with! I do definitely glow afterwards, even if my skin is still a little congested at the moment.

Sounds like you have the same skin as me!

I got castor oil from eBay. Yes I'm only using the jojoba oil. I tried with tiny amounts of castor oil but my skin was going VERY dry.

I still find I get out all those gritty bits with jojoba oil. And my skin is lovely and moisturised after. Very easy to remove too. I still get the odd spot but I put sudacrem on them and it reduces them :j

Had lots of comments on my skin, I'm amazed!

Hmm. I might try some sudo cream for spots. I've been having some outbreaks (since before OCM that are horrid). They seem to heal quicker since I've been OCM, but I have hormonal issues, which are worse ATM, and its getting frustrating. I found Aveda Outer peace cream excellent, but sudocream would certainly be cheaper!

Watch the sudo for spots it conatins mineral oil which can make things worse, cant recomend Freederm gel highly enough, two days ad you'll have clear skin even on the painful red ones.
Thank you for this site Martin

I did try it..based really on reading what you had written here, but its less successful for me. :( I'm wary of things like clearasil, as actually, my ''normal'' skin is normal to dry ...and I also have another hormonal condition that gives me dry skin...low thyroid...that has nor cleared up with OCM...and generally skin is seriously impressive....pores improved, skin radiant etc....just these outbreaks are continuing. I'm having a meds review in March, and I will be raising this then. ;)

Same here, Freederm does nothing for my skin. Or when it did heal spots it healed them from the top leaving a lovely horrible blackhead underneath! Certainly didn't speed up the process either which I hoped it would.

I've used sudocrem for years on my spots and its always worked - each to there own though. I have mega sensitive skin and it doen't irritate it.

FWIW, I went to the pharmacy in ASDA today. While picking up a prescription, I asked if they had castor oil. They said that they normally do but they've run out but would be getting more in stock tomorrow.

I guess either people in my area are either a) doing OCM or b) well, you know! :rotfl:

  • Hello everyone :)

I am at my wits end with my skin so I have decided to try the oil cleansing method. :TMy skin is sooooooooo yuk, don't get that many proper red spots (3 or 4 at time) but it is very greasy and have millions of blackheads all over :(

I am a bit confused to how often to do the cleansing routine? If only a few times a week what do you wash your face with the other days? The website says to stay away from mainstream skin products

    hi.

I use oil everyday in the evening, just in different proportions....sometimes just jojoba, not castor. I do this mainly because I find the oil makes a great make up remover. This week I've not been wearing makeup, nor oil cleansing...and my skin really shows the difference :(

I do use some mainstream products. Occasionally I'll use a facemask in addition, and I use moisturiser and anti aging stuff afterward.
