Is the Baby Oil that everyone is on about the Botanics Baby Gentle and Mild Baby Oil? It is on 2 for £4 offer at the moment and I was thinking of getting this for the days inbetween using the castor oil one for just ordinary cleansing.

DS2 says I shall make a "p00f" out of him cleaning his face like a girl:o:rotfl:

Be careful with tea tree oil - its an astringent - therefore I think it would work against the OCM

its also extremely drying and for those with very sensitive skins I would avoid using anywhere near the face

I just read on an earlier post that someone said Boots Botanics Baby Gentle was really good.
Hehe, how old is your son? At least there is no way his friends can find out.

I've read through most of this and think I'll give it a go.

Like others, I have had some samples from DHC, no way could I afford to pay for the full size stuff, so have tried with that and my skin has never felt so clean. Until reading up on it, I wasn't sure about the principle of putting oil on oily skin. I have very open pores, some of which look awful, and am hoping that this will work. Have got some castor oil from chemist and will use ordinary olive oil as my first tester.

fizzytrinket I thought the whole point was that the castor oil was the cleanser, but someone with better knowledge may correct me. Will definitely look into the olive oil for cosmetic use though, have found it here

Have ordered the Botanics baby oil from my small local Boots today (is on 2 for £4.00 btw) so will use that for general cleansing and see how it goes.

DS is 12 tomorrow - but has had the problem for around 18 months now and all the proprietory stuff we had tried just seemed to work for a few days and then it would get worse! His older brother makes it worse because he never has much problem with his skin and is unkind enough sometimes to mention the spots! Usually in the callous way that big brothers are sooooo expert at:mad:

It is definitely clearer than it was, and I shall be giving it a go again later this evening.

Have just got some rose otto (but blanched at the pure oil and got the 5% in grapeseed dilution) and added about a dozen drops to the large (200 ml) bottle of mixed oil and it smells a lot nicer now:D

Made the mistake of having a few sniffs of others (couldn't get the Ylang Ylang though) and decided to have a look at the on-line prices as our little health food shop serves a very small niche market around here and is therefore a touch on the pricey side!

I think I could quite enjoy going on an aromatherapy course now:o

I love smells, I really understand what you mean about aromatherapy course...me too;). I've had some ''fancy'' facials recently and the interesting thing is the aesthetician has oils burning and gave me three options to choose from, but I smelled them blind....it was interesting that things I didn't think I liked it turns out I do now!

To me though, ylang ylang smells a bit like dusty rooms at a grandmother's house. :o

on the back of my jojoba bottle it says that jojoba decongests skin.
my friend has stopped the ocm altogether because of the boils. sorry for the confusion.

Hi its ok, I'm just trying to get to grips with this myself so was a bit confused.

On the other oils issue, I don't like the smell of rose oil, and tea tree actually makes me feel sick.

TBH when starting I'd keep it simple. :) for a start if things do not suit you its worth knowing as you introduce them one by one. I started just with just jojoba, but castor made a huge difference. I wouldn't have known if I'd started with the mixture. Best advice here was from suki, when I started...she said to get to know my own skin....:)

Also, after my shocking recent break out I have five spots left. (it was a really bad breakout, probably medication change :(). They are however healing dramtically, and I think only left still because I tried a little too hard too soon to, er...help them. One was actually a milia that turned into a ''spot''...not had that happen before.

Anyway, normally this sort of thing would take two weeks or so to heal...I'm now about a week after they appeared and most are gone, and these I think will be just red skin in a couple of days time.
