... *runs in singing* ... I've got a blackhead, I've got a blackhead .. !!!!
Well, I HAD a blackhead ... yup, I gave it a bit of a touch .. oh alright then, I squeezed the stinker! *LOL*
I'm just using the Boots Baby stuff and using the castor oil and evoo I never had one .. just blooming acne and red, flaky skin so this must suit me better!
I have been using it for four days now ... I've just done the hot flannel thingy once (leaving it on just for a minute or two) then the next day I massaged it in for half an hour and had a bath before washing it off (so maybe the steam helped it really get working?) but the other two nights I just massaged a little of it into my face (and arms actually) ...
My face isn't at all irritated though (and neither am I!), no red patches and the flaking and spots seem to be subsiding so it looks like this is going to get the gunk out but gently if you see what I mean.
Can't recommend it enough! I thought it was the end of the world when the others didn't work for me and made my skin dreadful but I can definitely see an improvement so maybe the others were too strong for my skin.
Btw ... to squeeze or not to squeeze .. that is the question .. ??!!0 -

even though i know the correct answer to this i can't help squeezing. it's what mirrors were invented for, surely? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
My answer on the squeeze or don't is I apply gentle pressure....if its enough then...its enough, if its not...wait. The congested uck needs ''help'' tocome out IMO, it seems otherwise to just sit in there....urgh, gross, sorry0

I have been reading this thread for a while now and took the plunge and bought some Castor oil on Friday. So far done 2 OCM with nice long massage time (20% castor and 80% olive). My skin is good apart from my chin and jaw line, which are really yucky generally. I *invested* in some clinique at the back end of last year, and I haven't been impressed really. Am going to give it a month to see what happens.
Quite like the Rosemary oil in there too, might give that a whirl.Pay off as much as you can in 2012 challenge No. 64: 328.75/2,5000 -
well i'm glad to announce my spots are all going and no new ones emerging. my skin generally feels and looks healthier. really pleased so far. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0

I've been using the castor oil and almond oil for this on DS2 who has a very spotty T section since puberty set in! He is not impressed with the whole process - but IS liking the fact that the skin appears to be a little clearer after just a few treatments!
I could actually feel gritty little blackheads in the oil on my fingers:eek:.
Can I ask though, does Jojoba oil smell nice - as almond oil is great but not particulary nice smelling? Otherwise, could you add a little of any essential oil to make it smell just a wee bit nicer?:o"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

Jojoba oil doesn't really smell of much TBH. This is what I use and so far I have no complaints. Bit pricey compared to almond oil but will last for months.
Yes you can add a little essential oil to the mix but not too much as it might irritate the face.0 -
I use a jojoba/castor mix too, and don't find it smells of anything.0

I've found an online stockist for castor oil for those like me had great difficulty in sourcing from a chemist, I'd begun to give up hope of ever finding it but http://www.chemistsdirect.co.uk has 100ml bottle at £1.33 (on offer at the moment) BUT the p&p costs are £2.95, free p&p on orders over £40 but I don't want that much castor oil! Maybe there are other things on the site that you might need at the same time?
I also found another stockist but they charge more for the 100ml bottle but it does get progressively cheaper for the larger bottles, 500ml for £5.02 and 1000ml for £8.52, however I could not find a delivery cost but there is a telephone number, worth a look http://www.aromystique.com/products/carrier-oils/carrier-oils/castor-oil--ricinus-communis.html , although the description for castor oil on the site made me chuckle 'A thick and a slightly sticky oil with a very strong odour. Although this oil is used wide spread in the medicine side it is used more for industrial use. It is used for treating leather and for lubricating and waterproofing. But it is best know as a laxative. The main use of castor oil in Aromatherapy is for the hair, i.e to be used as a conditioner for brittle and damaged hair.'
First the skin, then the hair, then the leather suite!! :-)
