Hey Bronnie:wave:Thanks for the advice, do you use your almond oil every night?

Thank you Suki:) In future I will wear the gloves, not bothered about the cloths or the sink just have to clean up a bit more:rotfl:I don't have acne just regular spots which have totally gone with the freederm but I am going to give the OCM a chance on its own, oh and what do you mean orange? As if my make up would be orange:rotfl:;)

Here is my update - Woke up this morning to amazing skin:TI know its only one day but wow, as the night went on my skin felt lovely and the smell went away but this morning my blemishes (from a reaction to simple shower gel) have virtually disappeared:confused:even my freederm couldn't sort them out. I have applied my make up as normal, no moisturiser and will see how I go through the day, I actually cant wait to do it again, still got a long way to go to sort out my skin though.
Thank you for this site Martin

Funnily enough glowgirl, I did the OCM earlier on yesterday and my skin felt lovely, before bed I put some freederm gel on the erupted spots I had, to dry them up but nowhere else (normally I just put a paste on all my bad areas) then I dabbed extra virgin olive oil on my blemished areas you know the red marks that hang around for about 3months, and this morning they are definatly not as red and angry looking, quite easily be covered with foundation, and I only have 2 spots left, hurrah.

The only thing is around my mouth my skin is a different colour now, probably due to all the recurring spots and scarring, is the OCM good for helping even out skin tone? I'd go to sunbeds but because I'm on dianette I'm not allowed!

Yes, I use it as a make-up remover / cleanser, every evening, but as I said, I didn't ever have the skin problems others have here, so take their advice re full OCM! My skin is much softer and clearer though.

I still use my day and night cream (Really like Boots Protect and Perfect ...suits me and my budget) for the skin firming and SP benefits, as I often don't put foundation on til I go to work mid afternoon. Since oil cleansing, my skin is more moisturised, so I definitely use less face cream, more economical.
  • I like this!!! Tried it last night, I massaged the oil in while watching the end of a film, then used muslin to 'steam' and wipe the oil off. Using a 20/80 mix to start with sunflower seed oil, plus a drop of lavender oil (the only one I had) to help with the smell. It felt lovely last night and does today too! I squeezed a little bit of the gunky stuff out of the pores on my nose, but got a bit sore so stopped.

I'll definitely be trying this for a few weeks to see if it improves my skin.

    Hi,

I've been trying the OCM since last week and so far I really like it. It was here that I first heard about it so thanks for all the useful information and advice.:T

I had acne in my teens/early 20s which Dianette sorted out. Now (at 38) I just get the occasional spot or two. I have mild rosacea, the flushing/redness is the problem rather than papules and pustules (have a topical and an oral med for this). I also have open pores especially between my eyebrows for some strange reason.

For the first few days I used roughly equal parts of EVOO, rosehip and jojoba oils which did give my skin a lovely glow. Oh, I also added a few drops of lavender and tea tree oil. On the third day I added castor oil which gave me those little hard plugs that I've read about. My skin isn't as glowy as it was the first time I used it but I really like it. I'm using a flannel to steam and wipe off the oil and it seems to work ok.

I'm using it every night at bedtime - is that too often do you think? I think I might be addicted to using it!:o

ETA: What does "congested skin" mean?

I use the term congested skin, for those little bumps you get on your face (mines are around my my chin/mouth/cheek) they are white, and basically blocked pores, if you squeeze them white goo comes out? That's why I say it is anyways!

Aha, thanks for the info Buttonmoons. :T I don't have any squeezers (as I call them) but I do have some tiny skin-coloured bumps on my forehead. Not squeezable though. :D

I read this thread the other night at work. It got me thinking. All my life my Auntie has worn really thick dark foundation. She removes it every night with baby oil. She has the best skin out of anyone in our family. Never gets spots or blemishes and is really wrinkle free at 57!
So I went home and tried my baby oil. Followed the instructions you lot use and have been steaming and removing with a flannel. My skin feels much better, it's softer and the blackheads are most definately going. The ones that I've always had all over my nose (just gunky open pores) are now invisible. Hopefully I will be able to get all of the others out over time. I was able to get some more stubborn ones out today without any pain and not too much persuasion so something has loosened them!
I'm going to keep on with this and have started doing what I can on my body. My back/shoulders collarbone area and chest are dire. Obviously I'm not able to reach as easily but I put some on my hand as I would with shower gel, rubbed it in for a bit and then sunk down in the bath with a hot flannel on my chest. I don't feel like I'm really oily so I think I was able to get rid of all the oil when I wiped down after with the flannel.
Here's hoping it works and that I can get rid of my grotty spotty self!

  • Hey Kaz - that bath thing is great but be careful if you're using castor oil... I once spilled some in my bath by mistake, didn't worry about it, but had the nastiest tummy for about 2 days afterward!

But...I don't get the connection between castor oil in the bath and a nasty tummy
