The boots pharmacy told me there no longer allowed to stock it, Lloyds told me there was no demand. Ive bought stuff from lush containing peanut oil so ill see if that helps
I used to get mine in Sainsburys pharmacy but now I get it from an independent chemist. I have to say though that I live in NI and there are plenty of independent shops so perhaps Im spoiled for choice. if you are still looking to buy online, a small bottle for a shop here is about £1.30 if that helps0 -
OK, I've read the stuff, but I'm confused over which oil for skin type and preference. Can anyone help?
I am absolutely fed up with my skin. I have conflicting health problems which show in my skin: PCOS gives me hormonal spots (ahich have got dramatically worse this year) and hypothyroidism gives me a tendancy to dry skin. I can have spots under dry patches.
My skin responds well to new routines but then seems to get ''bored'' and having got better than gets worse again.
Right now the pores on my nose are tight and good, but roud my nostrils the skin is flakey (I exfoliated yesterday, but its all back this morning) pores are patchy on cheeks and chin, cheeks are also dryish, chin patchy spotyy/dry and around mouth and chin (and not now but usually around nose) it has a tendancy to be congested. I get spots on chin, jaw line and cheek bones (which are also dry and wear the ''age'' is starting to show - I'm thirty its the only place my skin shows any aging).
The skin on my forehead is excellent! Neither dry nor greasy! Its getting me down because previously I've had nice skin, and although its always gone through difficult patches its not been horrendous, where as now I just feel its always appaling and the spots are leaving a fair bit of red scarting too. It does fade, but I'd rather just not have the spots so often!
So, does my skin suggest any particular blend of oil? I'd prefer NOT to use olive if possible: I've used olive oil based creams etc before and I'm just not keen on the smell on my skin. Almond oil and rosehip oil sound nice....so...
Any ideas on what oil and what percentage mix I should try on my difficult skin?0 -
You know with your skin sound to me to be so dry and you not really having much in the way of congestion - leave off the castor oil and just use a nice almond oil as a cleanser
OR
Buy some natural Vitamin E oil and use that as a moisturiser at night
OR
Go with the castor and oil of choice mix but use a very small amount of castor oil - say 10% at first see how you get on.
Its the castor oil that really seems to work on congestion but it also is drying so its getting the balance in the first few goes thats the flaff ( how much castor oil and how many times a week ) You have to watch and feel your skin and make your own way Im afraid0 -

See - you know your skin already
The one thing about using the oils is that not one of them is going to do any harm so you can experiment
If you are using the vit E - then try using it nightly atm for a couple of weeks see how your skin behaves.
I dont know what else you use as a rule but for now try avoid all soaps and water, I know myself that since only using oils my skin has really balanced, I no longer have oil slicks or dry patches. And my sensitivity is nearly a thing of the past
I have now what can only be described as NORMAL skin :j0 -

Absolutely agree!
Although I had no major problems before, 'balanced' is exactly how I would describe my skin now too. No dry areas, more even tone and textured, tightened pores around nose. My theory being your skin is no longer constantly reacting to being 'stripped' clean by chemicals.0 -

Thats so true
I usd to watch a lot of daytime tv and for my sins got hooked onto the beauty programmes on QVC. All my life Ive had awful skin and was always on the look out for the product for me.
Liz Earle came very close and i still love her products but they are costly
Then I started to listen to the Elemis presenter who was adamant that there was no such thing as sensitive skin per se, that the sensitivity was a reaction and she advised this that and the other - all too rich for my bank balance.
But I do believe she is right about the sensitivity and both her and Liz are right about harsh products stripping the skin so skin really having to go into over drive to keep up. And the use of oils either as in the OCM or used separately have stopped my skin going mental and so its sort of healed itself
All those teen years with nothing but a bottle of clearasil, and then my 20/30s using strong astringent toners trying to keep the oil at bay....
Now all I need is the home wonder cure for the sagging neck and Ill be made up :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
However Im thinking it needs more drastic measures - scaffolding perhaps:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
OK, it took me a while but I was brave enough to oil cleanse tonight. I cannot find castor oil, and took suki's warning about it drying, and having felt comfortable with the E oil I use anyway I decided to try some coconut oil. I have ordered some caster oil anyway.
My skin is just entering its ''good phase'' anyway, where my hormones are a bit quieter, and is pretty balanced, so I decided now was a good time to try something new without over stressing it, or myself.
Just pure coconut oil felt a bit weird, and while oil on my skin didn't scare me I do admit i was dubious as to how throurough a clean it would be, but its remarkablly clean and comfortable. I was worried as I got out of the bath that maybe I hadn't rinsed well enough with the face cloth, despite it feeling as if I'd removed the dirty oil under cloth as I felt my skin getting ut it felt a little ..slippery, but now its dry and it most certainly isn't greasy and I plan to use my normal night cream.0
