What oil do you use for the "oil cleansing method"? (merged)

Hi there
I've been reading this thread with interest and am tempted to give the method a go.
My skin is on the drier side of normal, with no particular problems apart from the odd bit of congestion around my chin. I currently use make-up wipes or baby wipes to get my make-up off, followed by Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish (if I can be bothered).
I'm wondering if I need to use the castor oil at all, or whether I'd be better off with just almond oil.
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.0 -

I would scrap the wipes and just use the cleanse and polish for cleaning off your make up - it dissolves make up really easily,
Most wipes are very drying
If you do have dry skin then just use any oil, olive, almond, sunflower and if you do want to use castor oil ( as its the castor that's supposed to be the deep cleaner) just add say 10% to start see how you go
When using the OCM you dont need to cleanse and polish or use wipes the same time. The oils remove EVERYTHING0 -
I made some last week with some organic sunflower oil that i had left over from a market research trial (so totally free, yay!) but it was a bit heavy, and took some getting off. My coconut oil order came through today so i mixed up a big batch and left it to set in one of my old body cream jars. Just tried it now any it was lovely! My skin is so soft...another convert here!:T
(Made some lip balm while i was at it as well!)

I FOUND CASTOR OIL! whoohoo!
For those still looking I bought mine at an independant organic supermarket and it is the ''Pukka'' brand (like the teas) so an independant health food/alternative health shop might be the best sorce: neither big chemists nor independants had it near me.0 -
Because I've been asked here are the details of the castor oil I bought to day.
Pukka organic castor oil (250ml)
https://www.pukkaherbs.com They are based in Bristol, and will probably know where nearest stockists are, I guess, or atleast who current suppliers are through whom you might be able to order some. Mine was just over £6.0 -
OK, well, the castor oil is fantastic. I'm really, really impressed. The little visible pores very close to my lips are ...gone, the slightly enlarged pores on my cheeks and chin are smaller, and the dry skin that covered them is gone.
I have a few old blemishes healing, but the dryness in my skin is gone, and my skin is dewey and plump, those beginnings of wrinkles on my cheeks are smoothed out.
I'm using my normal moistisers etc too, and I'm really, really pleased so far.
I'm not quite sure what to do now, my skin, bar the few spots, is EXACTLY how I want it, so want to keep doing what I'm doing, but aware that I need to watch my skin and adapt as skin does. I've been feeling as if I looked very old for my age recently, not skin but everything, but looking closely at just my skin this morning, it looks much younger.
I'm mixing the oil in my hand, haven't yet mixed into a bottle, because I think it likely my rough proportions might adapt very quickly. Reading around the net it seems a lot of people just use the castor oil. I also note its often used against age sots, which is really interesting to me, because my mother has had laser recently for age spottig, and as a child I lived in sunny climes wth no sun protection, so I know they are coming my way, I'm hoping this can steer them off a bit. (No sign of them yet!)

Another one getting such great results:T:T:T
I know a lot of people say not to bother with the castor oil but for me to its been the wonder oil
I have the bottle mixed and sat on the sink at all times. i also have another bottle in my overnight bag so I don't forget it yet I now don't need to use it so often - maybe once, sometimes twice a week. Rest of the time its a warm wet muslin.
I have high magnification glasses and use a 10x magnify mirror and looking through those you wouldnt see a pore on my cheeks
Yes I still have a bot of a gunky chin at times and the T zone between my eyebrows and above them, but the rest of my face - well Im not lying when I say I have the best skin I have ever in my life had
Best of all its not greasy. Make up stays on and doesnt even get to feel clammy as it once used to
The one downside? I cant be persuaded to buy skin care products anymoreAnd I do miss that in a way. Id love to have some lovely products on my bathroom shelves looking pretty and smelling so nice.
Instead I have:
Brown Sugar
Olive Oil
Castor Oil
Sunflower Oil
Vit E oil
And my real luxury Ylang Ylang Oil and night Balm
Looks more like a grocers shelf :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I know me too, but with Sainsbury's almond oil! I think it's got to be the best and most effective MSE beauty tip of all time!!
I'm 52 and I have ALWAYS worn medium to good coverage foundation whenever I leave the house! I have never felt able to get away with just tinted moisturiser, summer or winter and that's all I'm actually wearing most of the time now! (Just realised, it's therefore also saving me money on foundation too as I wear Clinique and I'm using far less No7 tinted moisturiser, which is cheaper anyway!)
Just got some photos printed out from a little trip last week and I can't believe how my skin is looking; hydrated and positively glowing!
Whoo Hoo! I say!0
