I'd avoid clinique products, they can be very harsh and drying. If you are spending that kind of money and want a traditional foundation go for clarins, I have both and the clarins one gives better coverage, is more matte and lasts longer.

But I'd suggest trying a mineral foundation, it will be like a powder but you can just layer it up for more coverage. No7 have a minerals range now.

Clinique repairwear antiageing foundation is the most moisturising I have found (I have dry skin and have no end of problems in finding something that doesn't dry my skin out, it can look very flaky with foundation). Haven't tried the other foundations that clinque do though so you could be right.

All Clarins range (except the self tan) make my skin flare red and dry. But my friends swear by Clarins. I think I have funny skin :D.

I don't wear foundation all that often, about once a week and that's if i'm going somewhere and want to hide my spots!

I am trying to get my face sorted but really not sure what I'm supposed to do, it's the congestion that I hate the most, as my skin never looks smooth.

I guess what I'll do is OCM a few times a week, apply spot cream to the erupted spots, and just use some oil on my super dry bits around my mouth.

I've got a party next week and would like to have nice looking skin for it, so I'll go to Boots on the Friday and get the makeup and hopefully my face will be looking a bit better.

Is it okay to squeeze the congested spots? When I do that white gunk comes out but it also leaves my face red where I did it.

    Stupid implanon

Those mineral ones sound good Suki, do you know which department stores sell the Bare ecentuals one? Like I said I'm really rubbish at knowing what suits my face, and I'd prefer someone in the know to pick one for me, that's why I don't want to order from online, I'll end up looking like an oompa loompa

Ok I have been doing the OCM for a week now (every night before a bath or shower). Thought it was going to be grease city but I am surprised at how great it feels. Obviously no dryness after cleansing, but it feels like I have exfoliated with an expensive product. Smooth and soft. No spots, lumps or bumps, and I may be imaging it but my skin tone seems more even (I have redness problems). I finish off with coconut oil as a night cream (from reading the thread on here) and again I was surprised at the lack of greasiness the next day.

Also the best cleansing routine for getting every scrap of mascara off my eyes. No panda eyes in the morning so that must be a good thing regarding anti ageing. (Doesn't blur vision like coconut oil can).

I decided not to use Castor oil (firstly because I couldn't find any  and secondly because I have dry skin) Is this OK?

Off to spread the word (or should I keep it to myself......) :D

Oh one more thing - sorry. It's not really a night cream I want, as I'm happy leaving the oil on my face overnight and washing it off in the morning, it's for applying to my face before makeup goes on, as the oil would be too greasy for that. I've not read the coconut oil thread, is that a good base for it or just any mosituriser?

As long as you have time to let it soak in before makeup goes on. I have used it under foundation no problems but then my skin is dry.

Selfridges have it, and I think some branches of Debenhams do too. They've also got their own shop in London (Covent Garden) - I didn't realise this until I walked past it a couple of days ago!

BTW bareMinerals and Bare Escentuals are the same brand.

If you're getting on OK with it, then fine - everyone's different :) But the it is the castor oil that's the "active ingredient" as it draws out all the impurities. If you have dry skin, you probably only need 10%.

If it's just a matter of finding it, there are tips on here - apparently you can still get it in places like Boots if you ask over the counter (though I had no luck with that) - and you can easily order it online from Chemist Direct and other websites. I did see it on the high street recently and can't for the life of me remember where :(

I got castor oil in my local chemist, I've seen it in loads of them too. Think it was £1.30 or something for the bottle.

The woman asked me if I knew how much to take etc, she looked a bit shocked when I said I was using it for my face.

Oh thanks, don't have a selfridges here but do have a debenhams with make up counters so will check them out before boots :)
