What oil do you use for the "oil cleansing method"? (merged)

Bargain Rzl - at the moment I use it daily (this is week one!) Next week & onwards I will probably go with Suki's method of a quick clean with the oil & a deeper steam clean process about 3 times a week.
I empathise, I usually get all enthusiastic then get bored within a couple of weeks, but it has SO been worth persevering with the skincare, you really do need to give it time to adjust & work!
Yep, Im a great one for getting bored and not doing things properly. Thats why I use the OCM as more of a wash mostly now and maybe twice a week really go to town. But that was after working at it for the first couple of weeks to get the results.
Now I read my skin, if I see its getting congested I spend a few extra minutes, getting oily - I up the castor oil. This really has to be the cheapest and easiest cleansing routine ever as you can adjust it daily to suit your own needs0 -
Hmm I'm really interested in trying this....
I see someone suggested using almond oil rather than olive oil, what would the advantages of this be???
I'm so inspired i'm going to try and get some caster oil when i do the shopping tonight!
Thanks

I'm glad this has been resurrected.
I bought everything I needed in June, but as I was getting married on the 13th June decided to wait until we were back from honeymoon - then promptly forgot all about it!
Will be giving it a first go tonight and looking forward to seeing the results.0 -
This is the one cleansing regime - which I think is massively MSE because I haven't bought anything extra other than the £1.50 on castor oil!!!!
Extra virgin olive oil in the cupboard and lots of unused face cloths from christmas gift baskets...
When I think of the money I used to spend on facial washes, cleansers, toners, cotton wool and in the last year I've spent £1.50!!!
And out of all of them its worked the best... which means I stick at it. Can get away with a night off but its now become almost as routine as brushing my teeth...0 -
I'm glad the thread has been resurrected too.
I started to do the OCM a few months ago but packed it in after just a couple of nights because my flannel and my sink were getting really manky looking. The flannel was all orange-y from my make up and the sink seemed to be getting the oil all round it..
Am I just being a fuss pot or did this happen because I wasn't doing OCM right?0 -
It sounds like you must have been using too much oil... it only takes a little coin-sized amount of oil, and then you rinse it all away with the hot water / steam. I would certainly use a little soap on the facecloth and sink if there's any excess oil on them.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Or too much makeup, I guess! Once I got into this routine, I stopped using foundation altogether...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Thanks! This is probably it - I was pouring the oil into my palm and using a huge amount. I don't use a lot of foundation and was horrified by how much was coming off on my flannel. So what do we recommend, about a 50p piece amount of oil?0 -

Your flannel will get a manky orange because it is taking off the foundation
Try muslin cloths as the hot water from your tap is often enough to rinse through the cloth. However dont expect a cloth to last more then one or two uses before needing washing.I get through three a week at least and just chuck them in the machine with my towels or sheets and every now and then I give them a treat and boil them in the saucepan a while to get them nice and white again.
As for how much oil - Id say a wee cap full. I cup my hand and pour enough to fit in the well. Its enough to coat both palms but not enough to drip through my fingers0 -

I use so little foundation now since I found out about the OCM Im still using the jar of minerals I purchased last October and I cant see me needing to order any more till perhaps Easter. A lot of the time esp if Im working in the kitchens I can get away with avons magix - the tinted one0
