No, the oil does a brilliant job of removing makeup for you :) I started off taking 10-20 minutes but now a quick 5 minute skizz is sufficient.

    Happy easter all :)

I've been doing the OCM for 3 days now, in the evenings. I haven't noticed any difference in my spots or pores, my skin does feel a bit softer though. I've been using 30% castor oil and 70% EVOO, I haven't felt any tightness but it feels sort of on the limit, I think any higher concentration of castor oil and I would start to feel a bit dry. I'm not expecting anything to happen just yet but was wondering whether my long-term expectations are maybe a bit high, I have a lot of black pores on my nose, is this something that the OCM will clear or am I expecting too much from it? And if it will, how long did it actually take for this to happen for you ladies?

I have to say I found I noticed a big difference in the first week BUT I didnt have blackheads - just gunky congested pores

When you use the hot cloth to steam when removing the oils, just apply a bit of gentle pressure to your nose, the blackheads if loosened enough will just pop out

    Thanks suki :)

I have done it for the 5th time tonight, still no noticable difference in my spots or pores, but my skin does feel much softer and sort of plumper, so I am going to keep with it. I'll probably keep doing it every night for the forseeable future and just hope that continued use does produce some results. I do my face and neck and right down my front to between my boobs, as I also get some spots on my chest. I'm pretty sure mine are mostly hormonal though as they have got worse (along with an annoying increase in dark body hair) since I stopped the depo injection 18 months ago. I may increase the castor oil concentration slightly too as I'm not feeling dryness afterwards, I'll mix a tad more in tomorrow and find the maximum I can comfortably use without drying out my skin.

How many times do you ladies steam with your flannel/cloth to remove the oil? I've been doing it 3 times and that has removed all oil, but tonight I did it 5 times and will carry on with this as the extra steaming might help unclog the stubborn pores.

Also, I am away from home at the moment so I can't try it yet, but I might switch to sunflower oil instead of EVOO, as the link people refer to on page 1 says they feel this gets deeper into the pores.

    Hello all.

Did this oil cleansing for the first time last night. Used 25% castor and 75% olive oil as my skin is quite oily.
It removed my stubborn mascara which was a plus. This morning my skin looks better already, and had compliments from 3 people. (for a change, rather than "you look peaky!"). My skin is definately softer and strangely my wrinkles (or "Wrunkles" as my friend says, "they're too big to be called wrinkles, they're more like crevaces!") are less prominant. Hurrah!:j

I think you need to get some different friends :rotfl:

I still haven't tried it :o I've made up my oil mix (80/20 with sunflower oil in a pump bottle from Superdrug) and I bought some extra muslin cloths today. But my skin's been a nightmare lately - hormonal issues which I won't go too far into :D (suffice to say my TOTM has been going on rather longer than usual) - and I'm going to try it when it's calmed down.

Well, an update from me. I've been doing it for two weeks now. I still have lots of clogged pores which don't seem to be shifting, but my skin tone has improved and looks a much more even colour aswell.

I was doing it in the evening and while my face wasn't getting as oily overnight, during the next day it was as oily as ever. So the past 2 or 3 days I've been doing it in the morning as well but not massaging for as long, just 2 or 3 minutes massaging and then I jump in the shower, and steam and flannel it off in there. And today, I put my make-up on around midday and it's only just now getting oily. I was patting my nose all day just out of habit, cos I'm used to having to do that to get off the oil during the day, but there was nothing there. Love it! I think I'm using about 50/50 CO/EVOO, or possibly even 60/40. I started to get a tiny bit of dryness on my nose the last couple of days but I've been massaging in a tiny smidgen of my mix 5 mins later and that has softened it without making me greasy. I might add a drop more EVOO to the mix now that I'm doing it twice a day.

I bought some tea tree oil today (99p from Home Bargains). I have a 100ml bottle that I keep my OCM mix in, how many drops tea tree oil should I mix in?

Also, whilst the EVOO is definitely very moisturising, I'm not getting that pore-deep feeling with it still so I'd like to try jojoba oil as I've read that's thinner and a good carrier for problem skin. Can anyone recommend a good online place to buy some from, as there aren't any shops that sell things like that near me. Thanks :)

Its a shame you arent seeing any difference with the clean pores :( Are you giving a gentle squeeze? I seem to be able to just push my nose and any gunk comes flying out

No idea about jojoba oil - sorry

Im using Ylang Ylang oil at night to help control my oiliness. Decleor's. I used the oil before but now use the night balm. Not cheap but YUMMY (and it works)

    Hiya

I have been oil cleansing now for about 14 days.

Most days i use organic unrefined coconut oil then about twice a week i use an olay daily facial.

I have oily spot prone skin that gets dry around my cheeks and chin.

I have found since using the coconut oil that my dry skin patches have gone and my skin is soft and smooth every night, the first 3 days i got 2 spots but i have been fine since then and actually think my complexion looks a lot more even in tone.
I rub a genergous amount on to soften my eyemake up(it is water proof with lots of thick black eyeliner and glitter so it has a tough job) whilst it is working on my eyes i take some and massage the rest of my face then i rub it all thoroughly then get a steaming hot wash cloth and rub it off with lots of really hot water.

I am also using it on my OH spot prone back to see if we can help there as nothing else has worked, i will be using tea tree and jojoba on his back though about twice a week.

Well so far i am really enjoying cleansing with oil i think my face is looking so good and pretty soon i won't need foundation plus no more moisturiser as i have no dry horrible tight patches !!!! :)

You can get Jojoba from ebay a 50 ml bottle i bought the other day was about £3.00 it is much better for oily skin as it has a ph of 5.5 which is skins natural ph level so it will not clog pores or leave you oily and getting spotty. It is my favourite oil as it is a wonder oil.:T

50 ml will last a good while, try adding some grapefruit and lemon to it(but dont go straight out in the sun) these are good for purifying your skin and toning whilst removing excess oils.

Also try lavender and tea tree good antiseptic and calming action for your skin.:rotfl:
