I am interested in giving OCM a try. I see that one lady got her castor oil from Lloyds so will give them a go as no where else seems to stock it.
But what's the procedure. You mention steaming your face with hot flannel? Is this before or after you've applied the oil? For someone with combination skin (classic t zone although cheeks aren't that dry) what mix would you recommend?
Sorry if this has all been discussed in the last 10 pages but kids won't permit me to read all of thatI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hey Guys,
I've just started using this method (literally 3 days ago so not seen much effect as yet) after talking to Suki and some of the other lovely ladies in the 'Oily Skin' Thread. Theres quite a lot of more recent info on there about it if you read the last couple of pages.
I got my Castor Oil from Boots. They had to order it in but they definately can get it. (If one Boots store has never heard of it, or can't get it, try another) Its very cheap too
I'm using 30% Castor oil and 70% Virgin Olive Oil. I had tried 'steaming' my face using a hot flannel but couldn't get on with it so well but it was suggested to steam my skin over a bowl of hot water (as you would do with Vix/Menthol if trying to clear your sinuses), which I tried yesterday and it worked a treat!!
Proceedure:
* Mix up your oil in an empty cosmetics bottle (like you can get from Boots from the travel section).
* Shake well to mix the oils fully.
* Pour some oil out into your hand and warm it before massaging into your skin.
* Spend as long as you want massaging (it can be very relaxing)
* Steam your face using your chosen method (Hot flannel/bowl of hot water/face sauna etc) - I do it for about 10-15 mins depending on how patient I am or how much of a rush I am in.
* Gently wipe any remaining oil off of your skin using a soft clean damp (warm) cloth.
Other more experienced users of the method can probably give you some more tips... I've only given the basic proceedure because as I say, I've only been using it for 3 days.
Hope it works out for you

Thought I had better reply as my whole skincare regime has been gleaned from this forum!!
To start - my skin was awful, I suffered really bad acne in the past, left with scars & still have rosacea. I have incredibly sensitive skin, so everything I have used has caused problems, from dry patches like eczema to full on rashes (Clinique!!).
Now I am 30, and my skin is very uneven, very oily, congested & open pores & I still get spots, but if I used anything at all to help with spots it would really dry my skin up. (I sound so lovely!)
Make up was a nightmare too, everything was either too dry or too oily.
So, I stripped my skincare back to basics, & started using a soap free organic cleanser (about £6 from ebay & amazing stuff). I use an all natural sensitive skin moisturiser, again, very reasonable at £7 a pot which lasts about 2 months & is exactly the right balance for my skin. This made a huge difference & my skin started to calm down & stop reacting so stressed.
I now use Elemental Beauty mineral make up, the healing stuff, recommended on here, which is perfect for my skin & makes it almost flawless
But I really wanted to try OCM, & so I started this week. The difference is already incredible. I actually look rosy & glowing, & would be happy to leave the house without make upThe morning after I just shower & use a soft cloth to wipe my face, no cleanser at all & just a tiny dab of the moisturiser to sit under my make up.
At night after the OCM I use a small amount of virgin coconut oil (thanks again to MSE) which is really nourishing but leaves my skin very dewy & fresh come morning.
I had an intensive course of microdermabrasion (not very MSE!) which all but solved the scars, so now I am just carrying on the OCM which has been a godsend because my skin feels so lovely & looks so much better. I only wish I had before & after photos!
Anyway, I just thought I would share my experience. I thought nothing would work for me & I was doomed to terrible skin forever. The transformation is amazing (hence I cannot stop going on about it!!)
For anyone suffering I really recommend keeping your skincare as simple and as natural as possible. I will never waste money on over-priced skincare again, now I can spend it on shoes insteadProud to be a moneysaver0 -
GFN123 - can I ask if you use it daily, or less frequently?
I have similar skin problems to you, and though I've tried the OCM, I never got into a routine of doing it. I've got all the kit and I keep meaning to get back to it...Operation Get in Shape

I didnt reply to you in another thread because I was sure you had started this Rzl
Do have a go at it, GFN's results are as good as mine - it really does work.
I started every other night at first untill I got the mix right for me, then I used it nightly for a few weeks till I got as good as it was going to get and now I just use it every few days. In the mornings I just use a wet cloth to wipe my face and in the evenings Im not using the OCm I use a very very mild cleanser or exfoliating wash.
No wrinkles ( I never had deep ones though), sliky soft skin, a more normal skin rather then oily, pores much less defined, and best of all an end to the sensitivity. I still have roseacea but I swear its not so noticable and when my seb derm flares its not the nightmare it was with skin cracking and bleeding0 -
Thanks, suki. Yes, that's typical of me. I will buy all the gubbins I need for something, then lose interest in it after one use without ever giving it a proper go. Not very MSE at all!
Back to the OCM tonight, I've decidedOperation Get in Shape

Bargain Rzl - at the moment I use it daily (this is week one!) Next week & onwards I will probably go with Suki's method of a quick clean with the oil & a deeper steam clean process about 3 times a week.
I empathise, I usually get all enthusiastic then get bored within a couple of weeks, but it has SO been worth persevering with the skincare, you really do need to give it time to adjust & work!Proud to be a moneysaver0
