So what do we recommend, about a 50p piece amount of oil?

That's exactly what I go for

Thanks Suki and Badger Lady. I've just cleaned my face using a 50p size of oil (rather than a whole palm ful!) and used a muslin cloth I had left from when I used to use the Eve Lom cleanser several years ago. There was much less 'mess' on the cloth and the sink's looking ok too!

Where do you all get your muslin cloths from?
  • I get muslin sheets from the baby section in Boots - they are huge so I chop them into quarters - cheaper than buying speciality face cloths.

Thats where I get mine from but I keep them whole for the OCM as I find they really hold the heat so really do a long "steam" when folded into four or more
  • I found the cheapest way to make muslins was to buy the cloth from a muslin shop and chop it up! I'm lucky in that my mum has an overlocking machine and whizzes the edge up, but they should be fine with a raw edge.

I'm using the muslins mum made me when I had my dd.
  • I've been doing this for about 4 months now.. I think about a 60/40 mix of sunflower and castor oil and a few drops of tea tree oil.

My skin used to be like an oil slick and look like orange peel.. Now it's fine all day and the pores are still there but nowhere near as noticeable. I'm always getting complimented on my skin and I don't bother with make up anymore, just a bit of pencil/mascara cos I've got transparent eyelashes and a bit of lippy. No one believes how old I am either, which is an added bonus :D

I love the OCM, best thing I ever started doing :D

  • Well I took the jump and gave it a go :D.

I used 25% castor oil and 75% extra virgin olive oil. Massaged into my face for 5 mins (felt lovely), covered with hot muslins for a bit and then wiped off with the muslins.

My skin felt a bit tight afterwards so I used a blob of my normal moisturiser. My skin looked great! Really clean, and the pores around my t-zone looked much smaller and still do this morning.

This morning I gave my face a quick wipe over with some very diluted toner as it felt a bit greasy, another blob of moisturiser and used my normal eye cream.

I think my skin looks great today! Will def be trying again, maybe tomorrow night as I don't want to over do it.

I got a huge bottle of the Shu Uemura oil cleanser and have been working my way through that (it was a gift). I quite like it though I find it a bit messy compared to Liz Earle, which is what I was doing before. Still use her muslin cloths with the Shu oil and it works fine, skin feels clean and soft.
  • I've now managed to get some caster oil so I'm going to give it a go tonight! Have got some vitamin e capsules too so will add some vitamin e to the oil mix.

Let me check I've got it right.

You put the mixed oil over your face and then spend sometime, massaging it in, when you have done massaging you use hot water and a cloth to steam your face, then you wipe the oil off with the cloth and you're done????
  • That's right, Kat
