Hester, sounds like Katy will be needing to hire a private plane, let alone a taxi..!!!!

((((((Aussie)))))) – hope your sister will be ok, try not to worry too much.
Janny, good luck with your studying – I often find seminars/lectures help the “penny drop” with understanding something.

Arkonite, Tattycath, Donny-Gal, Stefejb – it’s just so frustrating – I know my oldest DD has just started her GCSE’s but she’s not the only one in the house who is busy/studying/working/under pressure – she turns up to eat & then walks off in a complete strop if I dare ask her to do anything…I sat here working last night & didn’t get up to start dinner till 8pm. None of them pestered asking when it was or what it was though. Think they’d got the message I wasn’t happy….

It is literally one job a day any of the 3 of them may get asked to do (usually load or unload DW). They’ve got very selfish recently. Withdrawing from anything other than basic conversation definitely works with them though, they don’t like it. I have done loads for them in recent months, new bedroom floorings, beds, wardrobes/drawers, bedding/cushions/curtains/ornaments. In fact everything – and it feels like a slap in the face when they don’t seem to give a monkey’s. They all promised they would look after everything, but yet again I can’t even see the floors (I just shut the doors, I’ve helped tidy it too many times in the past). I don’t do their washing anyway (and then feel like a bad mother, but I know I’m not). I’ve told them if they don’t bring it down when asked / do it themselves, then they can walk round in smelly dirty clothes!!!!! So I think I will be getting a bit tougher as they seem to expect to get everything when they demand it…. Just very difficult as that seems to leads to more arguments & I’m just too tired for it half the time. Will have to be evil mother…. Sorry for the rant – just needed to get it off my chest & wondered how others manage similar…

Thanks taplady too, that’s brilliant news on DS1’s new job & payrise J Well done him!!!

MrsMix, I know what you mean, sometimes although it’s very sad, it is a relief as well and you don’t have to watch someone suffer L (((Hugs)))) – and if you need anything, just shout.

Happy Anniversary Haribo J Have a lovely day.

Right, I’m off to Uni now to hand in essay & relax with coffee & cake for a couple of hours with mates. Shame about the torrential rain L

    Thanks for listening all…. J

    Hi everyone.

Been travelling back to England for the last couple of days--- just in time for the thunderstorms !!!!!

So not been reading the threads but it sounds like there are lots of people really going through a hard time at the moment--- so special gentle thoughts to all.

Ausssie Lass- Hope you get good news of your sister soon

    Haribo Junkie-- Congratulations

Well now we have to catch up on all the mail, banking ,cleaning, shopping etc etc etc. I think we will have some shocks as to price rises-- petrol etc. Sorry things are looking gloomy .

On the OS front we are determined to keep on with the quite simple life we have been leading in Spain. We have also still got a freezer to empty which we started before we left.

We slso need to lose some of the tapas bulge which has definitely settled around the wobblier regions.

Well have good days and hope things improve for the sad or poorly ones and specil congratulations to all those celebrating
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Hi all

Happy anniversary Haribo (and thank you - you've just reminded me that mine is coming up  too preoccupied with DS1s birthday. My excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

(((mrs mix))) and all others who need

squiggly - :kisses3: - how about you sit them down and agree a rota and pin it up? So long as you explain that these chores need doing and it is only fair that they are shared out, once you reach agreement they have no room for complaint (yeah. right. easier said than done, I know....

Fish fingers and yum lemon and thyme wedges last night. Made bread (dough setting, then finish in oven) - half of it had gone by this morning (DS1 loves it straight out of the oven). Tonight I shall be attempting sweet & sour chicken with stir fried broccoli. Rocket may be pickable for a salad at the weekend :T

Hope everyone is having a good day

    xx

mrs_mix - I think that is an absolutely beautiful thing to say. Big hugs for you. :grouphug:
    Congratulations Haribo :T :happylove
hugs for smoky, pen-pin and annie
Glad you got on okay at the hospital yesterday arkonite_babe
Pippad - hope you are well :)
donny-gal - we switched to Scottish power (£50 cashback then) a while ago and haven't had - touch wood - and problems as yet. Our bill has dropped a bit too.
Aussie - hugs for you and your sister

All quite here - boss called a meeting at 7.45 this morning then didn't show up. All 22 of us did though. I was supposed to see him yesterday and he didn't show then either. I left at 7.30pm last night, having got in at 6.30am, and made sure the times were very clearly shown in the signout book in case I get the "but you weren't around" stunt he tend to pull when he comes in horribly late and expects you still to be there. He is like that though. I had one meeting last quarter that was scheduled for 9pm at night and he showed up at midnight. I got home at 1.30am - not good as I had to be on the train to a conference at 5am. *shudders* The rest of the group are currently sitting out in the coffee area drinking champagne - 9.30 am?!?! I'm staying well out of that. head down hard work today... have to be at police station for this line-up at 3pm after they cancelled the last two appointments, so I need to be done before then. Pasta with cheese sauce for tea. :) We had HM pizza last night, but I was too tired to eat it after I'd finished cooking it :rotfl:

have a good day all, cel x

    Good morning:D

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Haribo!:smileyhea  Sorry your neck and shoulder are so bad, you really should have gone to the Doc's:naughty: But enjoy your time away. Give Pink a kiss and hug from me:D

mrs mix, so glad you got to sleep OK. You'll need to not overdo things although I know there will be masses to do in the next week or so. ((hugs))

((Aussie)), that's a worry about your sis, but hopefully they'll sort her out and she'll be fine. Hard in the meantime though.

Now my kids have all left I can smile about floors under clothes etc, but I know at the time I'd have happily strangled them ( if the law permitted:rolleyes: !!)
I've done many a *tru* over the years, trouble is I always found the results were too short-lived.;)

Glad the leg's better catowen. I find changing to absolutely flat sandals does that to me for a while, especially when you walk a lot.

anniebooklover, you're going through the mill a bit at the moment, hope you're feeling better soon.

Well it's raining here, and I had great plans for gardening today:rolleyes: I am most definitely not a wet weather gardener, so that means I'll have to do housework, boo hiss:rotfl: Not sure what's for dinner, something from the freezer. My new one comes tomorrow and I've got to do the whole empty, store, get new one cold, pack with food routine. I could do with it a bit cool tomorrow if nobody minds;)

Best get on, after one more coffee:D

Hugs to candygirl, smoky, AB, catznine and anyone else who'd like one.

PippaD, where's that baby? Must be here by now:D

Hi all - just got back from the mechanic's and sent DH off in my car.

ARKONITE - the mechanic said the car will be ready this evening but it will cost about £150 - £80 for the caliper and the rest is labour! He's also looking at an annoying noise in the back which I've never noticed. I just keep the music on if there's any strange noises which drives DH mad!

Pam - I'm so glad you had a good night's sleep - you deserve it. Thanks for posting. Take care of yourself, please.

MOANYMOANY - glad you can relax now!

WHATATWIT - thank you so much for the link - I've checked my car, DH's and DS2's (I remembered his reg because the car used to be mine!) and I shall pass the link around to everyone I know. Many thanks - it's reassuring. Thanks for the Maybug wishes - I haven't seen any yet and it's the 15th today - only another 16 days to go before I feel safe outside at twilight time!

CATOWEN - glad your leg has stopped hurting!

AUSSIE - so sorry to hear about your sister - what a worry. On the positive side, my FIL has recently had the same problems and had a triple bypass and, having spoken to him on the phone from Cyprus this morning, I'm happy to report that he's 'firing on all cylinders' now and is feeling as fit as a fiddle.

Mr and Mrs HARIBO - congratulations on your Wedding Anniversary!

    CHALKY - welcome back!

SQUIGGLY - like CHURCHMOUSE mine have both left home and, although I still miss them, coming home to a house that's as tidy as you left it is still a novelty to me. I did what DONNY-GAL had to do - withdrew what I considered were luxuries like lifts everywhere, pocket money when they were younger, not doing the washing and so on. Mine weren't as bad as some, though - after doing my last 'Tru' they did bring their washing down, hang up wet towels and bought their cups and glasses downstairs - however the 'Tru' was spectacular and is still talked about now, many years later! My sister went one better and just drove off for three days with a tent!! Squiggly - you rant as much as you like - We ALL know what it's like!

HESTER - good luck to your DD and BIL - you have a lot on your plate at the moment, especially with the legendary Katy - I don't know how you cope. I hope you have a good long rest when she's gone!

N9EAV - it's a worrying time financially, isn't it? I'm dreading my food shop tomorrow and the energy prices increasing. I've already switched from BG to E.On - it remains to be seen whether they will save me the £300 a year they said they would! I said to my DH that I need to cut down more on food and he said 'how?'! I don't know how I'd cope without all the tips and recipes I've found on here. The Tonight programme the other night was good in that it demonstrated how to make main meals on a budget but I was not impressed that they had reduced the family's budget to around £40 when that was just for the evening meals for the week! They made no mention of breakfasts, lunches, drinks and so on!

Anyway, rant over. I must go and do something - I need to whizz the hoover round and knead the dough and catch up on the paperwork.

    See you all later.

    Hello again,

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MR AND MRS HARIBO

Aussie - hope your sister gets on ok xx

mrs mix - glad you had a good nights sleep x

catz - hope your day at work will be better than you expect xx

pooky - well done on your weight loss :j

Taplady - well done to your DS :T

Im sure ive forgotton someone, but cant think at the mo!!

Well, spoke to soon about my leg, but it definately isnt as bad as yesterday, so i think i will blame the sandals for now - was back in my boots today, due to the rain. I promise if i get pain like yesterday, or it comes back in a few days i will go to the doctors about it, but it def isnt as bad so far.

Postman has just been, and ive won a bottle of Benromach whisky!!! Dont drink it myself, but will either be a nice present or maybe try and sell it on ebay. Was a nice comp to win, because you had to guess how long a trip was, and i got the right time!!!

I think it was Hester who said the other day that childminding can be feast or famine, and today ive had another call! Unfortunately it 2 children before and after school and thats what ive just taken on (they start after half term tierd mum) i just cant fit everyone in the car - maybe i need to trade my Zafira in for a mini bus!!! They had to change childminders recently, and dont like their new one, and its someone i know, so it could be awkward if i had them as well, as she would know they were with me. I may also have another for during the day, a little 1 year old boy - should find out on Sunday! If i can have him, it would sort me out properly, i dont want to build my hopes up yet tho!

Well this has taken about 30 mins to type - the joys of a LO wanting me!! He is on my lap having his milk now, and then hopefully a sleep, so im off now.
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Haribo Happy Anniversary :beer:Hope you get better soon & have a lovely time in Ireland. I hope Pink behaves herself. Tell us if she doesn't. ;)
MrsMix <hugs> We are all here for you when it sinks in.
CM Good advice to Cat although I'm really surprised you wear flats being so vertically challenged. :D

Thank you for all your well wishes to my sister. :A I'm really touched. I don't often let it all out, stiff upper lip and all that, but she is very dear to me.
The power didn't go off & DH home at a reasonable hour. Ninny day tomorrow. So lots of spoiling in store.
Just answered a phone call from someone overseas (India probably) trying to sell me something and they were pretending they had an Aussie accent. :rotfl:They answered with *Gdday mate*. Nobody does that. :D I"m amazed they didn't say cobber. Another myth. Nobody says that either. :D Oh well, I just hung up anyway. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Mrs Mix, I just read your post from yesterday. I am so sorry to hear your news, but hope that you will get some comfort from the fact that your Dad is no longer in pain. Sending you virtual hugs, but I wish I could give you a real one.
