OS Daily - Thursday, 15th May 2008

Morning everyone,

Off to get the sticky.....
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 15th May, 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before y ou go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Woke at 4.30am with back and stomach pains and can't get back to sleep so here I am, starting the daily.

((((hugs))) to everyone who needs one including smoky, mrs mix, candygirl, pen-pin, anniestar. Is it today that Pen-Pin has her op? I do hope it goes well for her.

Job no 2 today. Not a lot going on there so I will probably finish early but it means I can get some jobs done before the school run this pm.

Have been following the OS thread about not throwing food away. Full of useful information and very thought-provoking. As a result of this, I have only spent around £14 at the supermarket this week. :j My bank account, cupboards and f/f are all healthier for that.

Have a thrilling Thursday one and all. xx

Morning Annie & Kathy and those who follow.

I have just waved Mr Twit off, he's working in Leeds today and is hoping to avoid the worst of the traffic.
Work for me today and I'm also at my SW weigh in.

Quick warning for all, please check with www.askmid.com to see if your car insurance details are shown. This is the database used by the police. Dad's insurance was due on Monday, he paid it at the brokers last week, continuing with the same company. On Monday evening he was stopped by the police and quizzed for having no insurance. Eventually they believed him that he had renewed and let him go, with a ticket to produce documents. There are reports that some people have had their vehicles seized even thought they have got insurance. so it may be worth checking the site as the cameras as everywhere and the police are stopping vehicles. This thread is on the insurance board.

    Hugs to Pam.
    Hope Anniebl is feeling better.
Kathy, watch out for the maybugs :D

Mrs Mix, sorry to hear of your loss, hugs to you.

ANNIEBOOKLOVER hope your stomach pains get better.

HUGS to Smokey, PenPin and anyone else who wants one.

Looks like it's going to tip it down here. Really wanted to work in the allotment today as all the weeds are growing up. Might just have to get on with it. Also need to study, am really panicking about this module. Am going to a seminar on Saturday, which I hope will help. Also need to clean out DS room as I can't get in it and clean out him fish tank (yuk!).

Not sure whats for dinner, as we are going around a friends house.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning.

Raining down this way. Thunderstorms last night. I must say that the garden was due a good soaking, so it was just right. I am off fishing tomorrow so it can stop now!
Feeling a bit worried today. What with the bank of Englands' annoucement and also the proposed hike in electricity. High fuel and food. I really don't know where I am going to find the extra. I have always had a bit of flexibility, but with my mortgage going up this year when I come off 4.5%.... It's all going down the tubes.
There must be millions in the same boat....

Day off so there are a million jobs to do. Clean out the hen house I like the least. I was going bait digging this morning, but I am not standing in the estuary at low tide digging worms in the rain.

I think it will be coffee and sorting out my wardrobe for e-bay stuff...

    Cheers

    Morning everyone :hello:

not too bad a morning here, sun is out and it looks like another warm day. I have absolutely no plans at all today, I'm resting up as I daren't upset DH or risk bursting my stitches! Had a good nights sleep and feel rested if a bit tender this morning.

(((hugs))) to Mrs Mix, pen pin, anniebooklover, smoky and anyone else in need :grouphug:

whatatwit, I've bookmarked that site for future use, very handy thankyou and my car is on it ok.

mioliere, we've had the same problem with our car this week only DH and Dbro decided to fix it themselves. That's why my car was off the road from Saturday until Tuesday

I have no idea what's for tea tonight, it will probably have to be pot luck out of the freezer and I can't even go look as I'm not allowed to lift anything and as one of the drawers in my freezer is full and the front has split so it's hard to get open. Looks like DH will be in charge of food tonight again ;)

I'm off for a catch up now, see you all later

    Morning all,

bit murky & damp here today, think there were some rumbles of thunder last night as I was dozing off. Going across to Uni as it's essay hand-in day, so meeting some mates doing the same & having coffee & cake after.

N9eav, I know what you mean, everything just keeps going up & up at a ridiculous rate & there comes a point where you just can't keep cutting back/down etc. The only constructive thing I can say is that there is such worry about it everywhere maybe someone (the Govt??) will have to do something about it. Not sure what or how though :( You are certainly on the right tracks from what you've posted in the past though.

((((((mrsmix, smokey, penpin, candygirl, anniestar))))))) and also anyone else who needs them. HoOpe those of you feeling poorly or with poorly relatives are doing ok.

Did a mini "tru" at couple of my DD's last night - didn't catch the oldest as she was in her room attached to her computer as usual but I will do later.... Fed up of coming home after a long day to walk in the (new) kitchen to see not one of them has even bothered to load/unload the DW, let alone pick up any of their stuff they drop all over the place. Every day the past week or so (if not many more days) I walk in the front door, straight to kitchen, make my tea while loading/unloading, getting dinner going, emptying the bin & doing 5 other jobs. If I dare to mention it they all start shrieking about how "it's not fair" etc..... So I had a bit of a wobbly last night & am going to be "mean mummy" today. Grrrrrrrrrr

Anyhow, hope everyone else has as good a day as they can, depending on circumstances.

Hugs to Mrs Mix, Smokey & PP.
Cat I hope your leg gets better soon.
DG my cut & come again lettuce was just mixed leaves, I planted some in a pot & plant at 6 week intervals in 3 pots in total, each pot can be cut a few times & the plants regrow.
BIL is still continuing to feel well, although the solicitors news was bad, as in he'll get nothing as his wife's debts outweigh any equity in the house. He's just paying for his food while he stays with us so he can save up for a deposit on a flat.
DD has put an offer in on a house so I'm keeping everything crossed for her, she's gone for the 'worse house in the best area' in the catchment for good local schools etc.
I'm still waiting for Katy to confirm when in June she is leaving & how many taxi's she's hiring for the trip to the airport. She arrived with 5 suitcases, collected 3 more during the 1st week she was here & has just bought another 4 to put all the stuff in that she bought recently. She is driving me insane at the moment as she has hayfever, she is sneezing violently all the time without the use of tissues & so everythig is covered in a fine layer of sn*t. I've suggested she buys a hayfever remedy, but she's adamant it's a cold, which is why she won't use tissues as it is important to sneeze the germs as far away as possible
Everyone is finding work stressful, we have no idea what will happen, if we fail our next OFSTED as suggested they may just close the school as the numbers are gradually dropping. The kids are setting the fire alarms off by pouring water in them, so we are spending an hour most days in the car park doing head counts & then yesterday someone complained about me because I have only 1 machine operating & I'm not producing the work quickly enough. I've worked 4 days 7:30 till 4:30 with no lunch break, & still can't catch up.
Sorry that was a bit of an essay, lol.
    Hugs Hester
