I've moved this over to Freebies Gone But Not Forgotten, as the offer is now closed.
  • I just rang my local Comet and the Onetel offer is still on.
    Going in later.
  • Got the camera - looks OK for a freebee! Just hope there are no problems cancelling.

Got both cameras - Onetel and Sky. Had no problem cancelling either 'deal'.
    Thanks a really good post.

Remember there's no such thing as a stupid question, pls be nice to all MoneySavers! -
I'm relying on this while I ask my stupid question:-
I have both free cameras - should I have a Memory Card to upload pix to computer? Neither box lists it as included, but instructions are given for inerting it. I ask simply because my beloved Sony(now sick with lens problem)was given to me all ready to go and I don't know what might be necessary. I fear tinkering without guidance.

Don't know about the Sky camera (missed that one) but I suspect it's the same as the Comet/Onetel, which has built in memory and you can add an SD card for extra storage.

Just tried mine out - for any Mac users interested, there are pc only drivers included, but as usual it works fine on a Mac - appears as a removable drive and works perfectly with iPhoto. You can also transfer other photos to the camera, should you wish, by just dragging from the iPhoto window to the folder on the drive.

I signed up to Onetel today and yep got free digi camera. Ok not all singing and dancing but a lot better than the one I had so I'm delighted!

Think I'll stay with Onetel too as the calls are a few quid cheaper!

    Great Deal thanks to OP.

I registered with onetel through comet. I got a confirmation letter but no digital camera :( .
Onetel may be cheaper than BT but they have started to change their ways as probably could have been predicted.
Directory enquiries are no longer free. :( You used bo be able to contact them on a free 0800 number. My confirmation and welcome pack only gives an 0870
    My advice:
Keep onetel because weekend calls to landlines are free :j
signup with https://www.call18866.co.uk as well. You can still access them when with onetel by dialing 18866 before the number so at all other times than weekends your calls will only cost 2p a call(not 2p a minute) :j
Calls to mobiles are cheaper even at weekends and they are the cheapest ?I've found for international calls.. Most of Europe, all USA, Australia are 2p a minute. :j
Dont forget before calling an 0870 or 0845 number check for a landline alternative number with https://www.saynoto0870.co.uk ;)

    Hope that helps

  • Actually, 18866 is now 3p per call. The Onetel terms and conditions say you must use 'us for all of your voice calls' so whether 18866 etc work work as normal I don't know - does anyone else have experience of this?

The free weekend calls would certainly be worthwhile, but I suspect a search through Telediscount, 18866, 1899 etc would often turn up cheaper overseas call charges - eg US landlines 1p/min on 1899.com.
