    Hi

Been reading this with interest over the last few weeks and ahve finally done something positive.

OK,not today, but last Friday - set up a regular £100 per month overpayment. Big mortgage and 24 years to go - Eggmoney calculator reckons I'll save £28k :D

    Cheers

Had a really bad/good day today.

Couldn't find trainers to fit DD in Clarks, despite visiting 4 times, so went to the outlet village in Livingston.

Got her trainers from Clarks there for £7 :j

But...I also bought myself a pair of MBTs and a new leather backpack, and 2 tops for DD so we spent a bit more than we had thought....

On the upside, though, I've been needing a new bag for ages, have been after MBTs for years and the stuff we bought totalled £90 when the orginal price total would have been £221 so things could have been a lot worse .

Well done you! I've still to sort out a regular OP :o ... but at least my "irregular" ones are at least monthly... it's just the amounts that fluctuate!!

Keep up the good work, welcome to the [strike]cult of MFW[/strike], ahem, fold ;)

Finally counted up the £2 coins and also got the refundable deposit back from the holiday, so managed to put an extra £130 towards the mortage overpayment for August so paid £455 altogether feeling very pleased.

Today I am going to menu plan the rest of the week and try to use some of the food from the freezer as it's building up again.

I'm also going through the bathroom cupboard and finding half empty conditioner and shampoos which can all go out to get used up, saves buying more and leaves more room in the cupboard.

Will also go for a swim today, but to the cheaper swimming pool in Dundee, no point in paying for the one with flumes when we don't use them. Will park for free in Tesco up the road.:D

  • Today I've spent more than I'd planned as on the way to in-laws, where DD will stay tonight, I realised I forgot her baby bottles, so quick dash to Tesco - £6! At least they can stay at in-laws so I won't have to remember them next time.

On a more positive note, I've just lined dried my washing instead of tumbling (you should have seen me run out when the heaven's opened - that should be an olympic sport!), I've also set up a couple of speadsheets so I can keep track of how my mortgate is coming down each month, and also one to record weekly utility readings.

I'm gonna cook a pizza that was reduced to 94p from my freezer for tea, with lettuce from my garden. My tomato plants are coming along well and will be ready within the next month.

I've also put my name on the waiting list for an allotment (they're right next door to our house, so no excuse not to really).

    Happy saving everyone!

The last week hasn't been a terribly MFW one for us as we've been working as volunteers at the Beer festival at Earl's Court. We have been drinking free beer though (Haven't paid for a pint all week!) and have made sure we use up all our subsidised meal entitlement. We also used Oyster cards or my Network card where we could to save on our travel costs.

Mum gave me some cash my Aunt owed us for some printer cartridges we got for her so that went straight into the Pig.

This evening I have done my meal plan for the week and price checked my shopping list ready to go to Tesco and get tomorrow. I've printed a CouponNet coupon to come off that as well as a Tesco one I already had. I shall drop OH at the station tomorrow morning - next door to Sainsbury's so I can return the foul tasting bottle of Squash he's refusing to drink at the same time. (Not just him mind - I sniffed it and retched too!) May also collect up some books I'm finished with to take round to my Mum - they are both retired now so I save the books I've read from the charity shop for her, and magazines go between us, my Aunt and my best friend!
