I made lunch for today and tomorrow this morning and I am renewing my house insurance tonight and trying to get cashback for doing so. Didn't work last year but no harm in trying again. Tonight I'm also going to meal plan for the rest of the week and try to find my £20 of tesco vouchers which have mysteriously vanished.
If the rain holds off we might have a trip to the allotment to prepare the ground for planting something. We're not growing anything at the moment but we got some free broad beans and potatoes when we went on sunday!
Unfortunately I need to take my beardie to the vets tomorrow and am thinking that might cost a small fortune.0 -

I did it through quidco and got a good deal. Got a £120 deal from Lloyds TSB insurance. It wasn't much more expensive than my cheapest quote so saved a fair bit if the cashback gets paid. It should do it's showing as validated.0 -
Hello,
I had a NSD today as I took my sandwiches in to work and my OH has already made tomorrow's sandwiches for me.
We had chicken risotto for tea made from leftovers - there's still loads more chicken left for tomorrow.
I did spend £1 actually - but that was on opening up a cash ISA, so I don't think that counts. Hopefully that pound will be joined by lots of other pounds in the ISA soon!0 -
Our contents insurance this time round was through quidco as well - we went with Asda and not only beat our premium from last year by £48, we also got an additional £68 cashback too!
Mum and I made a trip to explore a chinese supermarket at the weekend - we both use vinegar for cleaning so being able to each pick up a 5L bottle for £2.37 was rather good. I got a big bundle of lemongrass stalks which I need to get finely chopped and frozen too. Well worth the trip and I would go back again when I had more freezer space as some of their frozen fish etc was excellent value.
OH and I are still putting aside our £2 each a week into our Good Food Show savings pig, and the "Loan pig" got £5 on Saturday from the money Mum & Dad gave us for the fresh ingredients to go towards our "Ready Steady Cook" meal. I'd bought the bits we needed in with the Tesco shopping so wasn't going to notice the £5 so decided Pigasus might as well have it! :rotfl:

Today I have worked 8 hours overtime in 2nd job -must be getting old really tired now! Also popped into allotment and got food for tea and salad for tomorrow. Had a subway from a mystery shop for lunch and would have been a nsd if I hadn't popped into tesco for some milk and ended up buying three bottles of wine!
The past few night have managed to get OH to agree to going to bed an hour earlier - saving an hours leccy.
Tomorrow I will do 5 hours promotion work, 3 hours overtime plus normal shift in second job, and try to fit a free swim in as well as a bit of a treat - you know what they say about all work and no play!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I have, today, learnt to differentiate between 'wants' and 'needs'. I've learnt to wait before going out and buying things, and then make a decision later whether I've missed not having what I haven't bought (if that makes sense).
Example - a few weeks ago I wanted a digital camera (SLR - £500ish), but for one reason or another, I didn't buy one. Today I have realised that (a) I didn't buy one so I'm £500ish better off, and (b) more importantly, I haven't missed not having one...
Therefore, my new plan is, for everything I want to buy for myself, I will leave it a week and then decide if I really want it.
Obvious really, just I'd never thought it through before.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Dare we ask how?!
Today I have gone through Quidco to get my house insurance, managed to get B&C for under £140 so well chuffed, if it tracks that's £25 back, but even if it doesn't I'm still happy0 -
I have just been very persuasive re the early nights!
Today I came back from fishing trip with six fish. Not as much as I'd hoped but enough for three meals. Worked out fishing trip cost me £14 including petrol so not too bad seen as i'm still learning! I am very lucky to have a very patient friend teaching me!
Tonight I'm going to relax and then tomorrow -
2 hours allotment
2 hours promotion work
3 hours overtime plus normal shift
Keep going everyone!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I've fallen off the savings wagon a bit this week as I've booked a short break in the sun (a bit more expensive than I was hoping) for next month. I did book the hotel through quidco though, and it tracked the next day.
Anyway, to get back on the wagon I cooked a whole chicken as a meal a couple of nights ago, and had the remainder for as risotto. I also boiled the carcass so have got tons of frozen stock in the freezer - heavens knows what I'll do with it.
I also had some disappointing news in terms of overpaying my mortgage. After reading everyone's achievings on the forum about making over payments I felt inspired and requested to make a small o/p each month on my own. Today I received a letter from the mortgage company saying that due to the type of mortgage I have (fixed/2 years) I can't making monthly o/p. I can make capital o/p but the minimum is £1000! Now I would love to be able to do this but I was thinking more in the lines of £50 here and there. The thought of saving £1000 and then overpaying such a large amount scares me!
Oh well, I guess my new ISA will have to benefit instead!0
