MFW, What small thing have you done/ will you do today?

I was pretty good yesterday. Took lunch to work and made dinner from what I had in the house. Only spend was a new cycling top which I've paid for with the refund from a weekend away I had to cancel and the payment I'll get for playing for a show on Thursday night. The top's needed so I don't arrive at work all sweaty and smelly!
Today I need to buy a lock for my bike. The one I have was free with a magazine (very MSE!) but isn't really good enough to leave my bike anywhere apart from work. More cycling = less petrol so it will pay for itself in the end (did you spot me trying to justify a purchase). NSD apart from that.

I'm a newbie to this thread. I had a NSD today ( hubby moaning about no paper to read!) but I'm not sure how this is benefiting the mortgage! Should I put the cost of the paper in a piggy bank? It's still in my purse so no doubt I will spend it tomorrow!!!

Have you seen the Mortgage Pig Thread? You could put in all that newspaper money and watch it grow.
Good luckWatch the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves;)0 -
Today I walked most of the way to the hospital saving car parking money
Watered and tidied allotment and picked some salad and new potatos. The best thing about the allotment is the other people, they are so kind and give me loads of plants and veg. One man said he doesnt like strawberries and would I like to pick them from his plot all summer!!
Left overs with the salad and potatos later, so a NSD here.
Tomorrow I am doing more tidying at the allotment and want to do some marketing work as well.
Its really good to hear that other people are doing loads to reduce costs and pay off the mortgage and it spurs me on thinking that I have to write down what I've done!!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I had an account that I was paying to have as it came with a lot of services that we did use - however they restructured the offers and we only needed the AA cover and so I converted back to a standard account.
Not only has this saved us £15 a month but we now get in credit interest which can be added to our lil mortgage pig - another £5.74 in just interest :rotfl:
Every little bit helps - said the lil boy peeing in the sea0 -
Booked car park for work trip over internet so saved them money and got me £9.50 quidco cash
.
Tried to book car hire for £10 cash back but link not working  .
Raised 3 queries on quidco  . Edit: Yay, all 3 validated in last 10 mins so extra £2.04 :T .
Only bought meat for salad lunch & BOGOF meatballs in supermarket :j .
Pretended I didn't see SALE signs in shop next to office.
Got given 4 novels & tried to work out which ones I could sell.
Tried to wangle a trip out of office on Friday so no petrol money to pay, DK if worked yet.
Poured over spreadsheets again, looking for inspiration.
Didn't find any  .A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi all
1. DH just called our broadband provider about switching and managed to get a new deal at less than the one we were switching to - £6.99/month including local and national calls (we make about £2 worth of calls a month on the landline so no point getting the packages with loads of free calls) So that's £8/month saved - which will be fed into our savings/OP Plan!
2. Wanted to get takeaway but resisted - cooked spicy chicken in pittas as per meal plan :T ( a few weeks ago it'd have been a takeaway no question)
3. Joined Auctiva and going to dip toe in the ebay selling pool tomorrow I hope (v nervous - reading the ebay forum really doesn't help the nerves)
4. Sold portable DAB radio bought for commuting by train then changed job for £25 and listed body fat scales in local free ads paper
MLMFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!
Girl Cub due 14th September0 -
Client meetings at work 3 days this week; free lunch included. Saved £10.50 (ok, I could choose to take sandwiches but a cooked lunch (£3.50) I find is better and faster to eat so I can take a stroll and fresh air... )
I didn't do this today, but have you visited your local council web site to see if you can get a grant towards energy saving (loft insulation etc). Check council / unitary authority or visit

We did it last year, were surprise we qualified and it was well worth doing so0 -

Have had OH's boiler and alarm serviced - emailed over proof to solicitors - that's all the actions that were holding up the exchange done, so fingers crossed it will go through tomorrow and we are one step closer to being mortgage-free!!!Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
