I have listed loads of stuff on Turbolister ready for next months cheap listing day - am waiting for the outcome from this months ebay - lots and lots of watchers but only £7.80 bid so far!
NSD tomorrow.posh*spice wrote: »Has anyone else got any "energy" saving ideas?- Put a hippo or engineering brick in the toilet cistern to save on water.
- Use a slow cooker to cook meals - much low power.
- Plan in advance to use the oven - ensure you use every shelf by baking cakes or biscuits or bread at the same time as other dishes.
- Use a stackable steamer to cook veg so you can use one ring for all your veg to cook at the same time.
- Start making fuel bricks now from old newspapers.
- Turn off the oven 10 minutes before the end of cooking as the residual heat will continue cooking the meal.
- Ensure you always have a full washing machine.
- Use a dishwasher if you have one on eco wash rather than handwashing.
- If your washing machine is past it, invest in one that provides you with a 25 minute rapid wash cycle for less soiled items.

I would only agree to participate in the Euro 2008 swep at work if I could have Brazil.
I appear to have saved myself £2 there
I also found a pound outside M and S, and having just posted this months overpayment onto Northern Rock, I posted £23001 (The £23k is the carcass of a zombie Scottish Provident Endowment Policy)

I would never have thought of a carpet sweeper! Just looked on ebay and simple carpet sweepers are under £20. I wonder how effective they are? Does anybody use a carpet sweeper now?

- Had an NSD (even went into the local shop to post up an ad for our washing machine and didn't spend!)
- Paid off an additional £1k off the mortgage capital. Then phoned Britannia and talked through costs of adding DH to the mortgage and offset - having been told it is going to be treated as a new application, will cost over £500 and will take 6-8 weeks to complete. DH is selling his house and we planned to pay a large chunk off the capital and leave the remainder to clear the offset but not if its going to cost us £500! So, I have requested the redemption figure
- Completed all my billing for May.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Had a burst today - changed gas/electricity/home phone/broadband and mobile suppliers today via Quidco :j0

Today I said "si!" to an offer of car-sharing to work - was a bit frightening when she asked how much half the fuel costs would be and I worked out it cost me £7 a day to get to and from work (it's less than 20 miles and I get between 50 and 70 mpg out of my skoda vrs)
Then I realised that finally it was getting cheaper to get the train so have looked into fares and folding bikes. Hubby and I are going to share one - found a great offer - not only 10% off through Quidco but they're out of stock til Tue so there's an additional 10% off :j
So now have a plan for drastically reducing our commuting costs and being green!MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!
