Just got to thinking, is it worthwhile putting a list of things toegther for people to check every so often e.g. check bank account rates, electricity suppliers, offers on quidco etc, possibly make it a sticky with thre author editing all suggestions into first post, get people to subscribe to it, and then bump it once a month, so say on the 15th of each month it arrives in everybodys inbox, and they think, much check .....?No longer an accidental landlord, still a wannabe millionaire:beer:

Thanks Molit and Welshlassie, that sounds a great idea!
Paid £10 off mortgage this morning. I've just read Martin's post about immediate bank transfers. Barclays is signed up, but for some reason, payments from Barclays to a (Barclays owned) Woolwich mortgage will still take days until the end of the year...."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." Not quite achieved a NSD. Didn't get up early enough to make breakfast or lunch. Must try harder... Did choose the cheap option of soup and a roll in the canteen though. Will have a storecupboard tea tonight.0

Have a Tesco order coming anytime now, but i am stocking up on store cupboard things, and using a 1000 point code (saving my Tesco deals towards a holiday to Florida next year!!) - so although im spending £55, im getting £40 in deals, so not bad!
Had to post a couple of Amazon orders off, but will be getting the money for them next month - all my Amazon sales go into my mortgage, so pleased with that.
Also received a cheque for £50 from a survey site, so when i get to the bank, that will get paid in to my mortgage too!!
Oh - ive also just capped my gas and electric prices until Oct 2009, so bring on the increases, im safe for another year!! (hopefully they will go down again soon, lets see what Gordon has planned!!)0 -
Trying hard for a NSD today. Cycled to work and brought my lunch in.0

Well just been paid so have registered to join the Grocery Challenge and £10 per day for June. Will be taking out the Grocery and going out money at lunch time so in theory everything going out of our account is now planned and accounted for.
Should be a nice month for an OP.
Otherwise today should be a NSD (other than going out tonight which will come out of the going out budget) first night out with DH for months.0 -
Hi All,
Just found this thread & am loving it!
Although I have saved lots in our ISA's to pay off mortgage (c.8k remaining to find) when the fixed rate ends in 2 years time, so technically could be almost mortgage free, we now have some expenses coming up in the next year which will take out a big lump of it, so trying to get as much as poss. paid off now.
Nearly managed a NS day yesterday - didn't 'fritter' & brought packed lunch, but booked our flights for Sept hols on Easyjet - the so'n'so's wanted to charge me £9.80 for paying with my credit card!!!!!!! (interest free on purchases to Feb 09) so had to pay on debit card (charge £1.75 instead) which wiped out the £400 from sale of my car which I was going to overpay off the mortgage - Damnit! Will get part of that back from others we are travelling with though, so just a delay in paying it off the mortgage really I suppose, but quarterly statement is due next month for up to end of May, and I wanted to see those numbers coming down!!!!
Still, doing OK today - packed lunch etc., eating tea from freezer bargains, NOT LETTING OH buy any cider from the supermarket until he has finished the lager I bought cheap instead!!!!!!
Garden-wise we did a good one at the weekend - brought home bags of Mum-In-Law's grass cuttings to compost as she doesn't do it herself! Also got bedding plants in local garden centre priced at £2.99 pack or 3 packs for £5...went through and found packs with extra plants in too so got a few more for free. Have drastically reduced pots etc for bedding plants - growing herbs & veggies in them instead this year, so 3 packs will do my little flower-border proud! The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"
