    Mortgage-free Glee!
Fingers crossed for you I hope that the sale goes through ok. It will be such a long time till we can pay ours off (about 10 years!) so I am very envious!!

    Income:
Tutoring this afternoon which goes into mortgage.

    Savings:
Today I have used carpet sweeper instead of hoover.
Did some work at allotment and picked salad for lunch and tea.

Tommorow I have booked some treatments at the college, which I suppose is not a neccessity but is very cheap!

I had a NSD but did use diesel to run DD to school as it's 2 miles away and I'd never get her there by 8.30. I did drive very frugally though :) .

I also went in to speak to her teacher about her reading books because it's costing me a fortune in buying her new books and they have agreed a different scheme of books which are more suited to her needs.Hopefully I'll be saving about £15 a week which can go to the mortgage.

Lilmil thanks for that. Good advice but holiday pig currently in play until October. Will rename it after that!

  • Feeling really chuffed with self!

We needed to pay our final balance on our safari in dollars - got the settlement figure in £ at a 1.9 exchange rate... realised this would leave us out of pocket compare to the actual exchange rate... so used Martin's holiday cash finder to find a deal for 1.93 plus £12.50 Swift transfer fee to pay off our holiday, saving us £38 :j It took a bit of doing with scanning my ID docs and instructions but I reckon it's worth it...
We're now into our phase 2 saving - safari paid off, next stop our little building project, then when that's done (should be saved up in 4 months) phase 3 is the baby fund :D

Also listed my first 2 items on Ebay ever on 5 listing day - am v nervous of the selling side of things, you just hear some nasty stories on the board. Fingers crossed it all goes ok...

Hope it goes well mountainlioness - I also listed stuff last night, only to find that I'd missed a couple of items. Maybe I wasn't quite ready to let them go ;)

NSD yesterday apart from the ebay 5p listing fees...
  • Thanks Cake21 - tbh was only the tiniest dip of a toe in the ebay selling pool - one keyring and a handbag! Start small I thought, and see what happens! Good luck with your listings :)

Paid £7 or so off mortgage to round it down. Posting one photo order out, other than that, NSD planned.

Totally failed to get anything listed on ebay yesterday. Oops...

  • This week I have...

    - listed some stuff on ebay (5p listing day)

    - sold some stuff on ebay and now my paypal account has £49.09 in it (as soon as it gets to £50 will withdraw and put on mortgage)

    - bought some (more!) clothes from the charity shop on '3 for £1' rail

    - bought a cheap dvd for DD birthday in September and have started knitting socks for her with wool I already had in for a pressie too.

    - took packed lunch to work

    - quidco deals on magazines, £4.80 into quidco account if you spend £1 on 3 issues of Marie Claire so done this. I will keep the mags for the hols and give to DD as she likes to read mags and I end up spending a fortune in the newsagents!

-hubby has got a new job! Better package, hours, perks etc so this will seriously boost the income.

    - tending the veg in garden and have small tomatoes growing. Also broad beans flowering well.

    - Dragged my shopping trolley to the local market on Wednesday and got a HUGE amount of shopping for £11 (may have to pay for operation to replace shoulders into sockets!)

    - tonight I am going to cut the tops off my broad bean plants and make a salad out of them with sprouted peas growing on windowsill. I'll taste it first, if it doesn't taste very nice then I'll cook them somehow, maybe in an omelette.

    - been eating mainly veggie this week due to hot weather and not fancying meat, so beans, pulses, lentils, sprouted seeds and beans etc.

    - got a £10 halfords voucher through from pigsback which I've saved for DH for Fathers day for kids to give to him, he needs some spanners (or something like that) so he'll be chuffed...cost £0.00! Also encouraged kids to make cards and do a 'voucher' for him to be pampered!

    - opened up some bank accounts to move stoozepot money around and get a better interest rate

thats it for this week, can't think of anything else, well done everyone :)
